Hey Guys,

I drained both the axle hubs of my M5040. The shop manual shows that both the LH and RH axle hubs have a fill, check, and drain plug.

The hubs on my tractor do not have a check plug, only a fill and drain plug (see shop manual picture for reference).

My axle shaft appears exactly as pictured in the manual.

Do I just dump 3.2 quarts into each hub, and then fill the center diff/axle until it flows out the check valve?

It's unclear from the manual and parts diagrams on messicks if oil is shared across the axle/hubs; hoping someone else has run into this

Normally I try to stay away from threads where I have no personal experience but I see you've been on the unanswered list for a while now.

I read the manual page you listed. It says the put 3.2 qts in each side, suggesting to me that oil is not shared.

It also lists 5.8 qts in the front diff center section.

To me if you put the measurements you already provided in all 3 locations you can't go wrong, if I'm reading your question and manual correctly.

Perhaps this is no longer even a relevant question.
