ROPS will not Fold on new ZD1211

I got fed up with repairing the ZD326 and bought a ZD1211 with a 60" deck. Today I decided to start using it. The ROPS will not go down.

My property is flat, and I have to mow under some overhanging trees, so I don't use a ROPS.

I removed the pins and the anti-rattle devices. I had to loosen the hinge bolts because they were very tight. The ROPS now moves maybe 10 degrees, and then it stops suddenly as if it has hit some kind of block.

Ideas?

It looks like someone put the hinge bolts in the wrong holes.

The picture looks like you are trying to fold the rops forward. They should fold backwards.

In other news, it came with the floor skirt pushed in on one corner. Think I should insist on a repair, or is that too picky?

Is total height below 7 feet?

I could guess if total height under 7' it will still fit under standard garage door while still giving Kubota higher liability coverage from this dammed sue everyone and everybody for anything imaginable. A cover their arse move from the American legal system? only a guess.

Looks like dealer didn't do a very good prep inspection job ... I'd let them try again!

If you paid for new, you should get new!

This would not be covered under warranty. This isn’t a manufactured defect or mechanical situation.

I did not see those dents when I washed the machine and did my walk around.

They didn't catch the hinge bolt problem, either.

If I can't get anywhere with the sales guy, I will contact the guy who runs the chain. I bought a diesel cart plus a mower, so you would think they would stand behind a $200 part.

Maybe use the KTAC insurance if you bought it instead of warranty.

I didn't bother with that. My home policy covers it, but the deductible is higher than the price of the part. I will see what pressure I can apply, and if I can't get them to step up, I'll just buy the part and install it.

Interesting way to treat a customer who just bought two pieces of machinery in one month.

Funny fact: the ZD mowers are delivered to the dealer in a reusable shipping crate. For the mower to fit in the crate, the ROPS is shipped at the rear of the crate. The dealer installs the ROPS on site.
There is a picture of how to properly install the ROPS so it is done correctly.
Someone at your dealer can't read a picture!!!!!!!!!!!

Still no word from the salesman, so I left a call for the service manager, and I have tried to email him. Oddly, the website lists email addresses for a bunch of employees, but they left the service manager out. Being a clever person, I saw that the other addresses were just one initial and a last name, so I took a shot and sent an email to what SHOULD be the service manager's address. It has not bounced yet.

He saw the email and returned my call. They are picking the mower up on the 7th. Still skeptical about the step, which is surprising. Maybe the driver dented it.

Looking at your picture I don’t really see a dent but possibly it was stamped that way for strength. (I am assuming you are talking about what is in the center of the picture on the vertical face.). Is it there on both sides of the tractor?
