The property I recently purchased has an outside wood boiler which uses 400 gallons of anti-freeze instead of water. The previous owner told me I should add 1 gallon of anti-freeze treatment every 5 years to reduce electrolysis.
Anyone with a system like this have any information on what to use?

I have 2 biomass boilers.
can you give us the make / model and we can provide better advice?

on mine they are 100% stainless steel attached to pvc and poly pipe.

I am supposed to keep my ph level within a specific range test few times per year (by using test strips) and adding an additive package from time to time to address scale and corrosion. I think additive package every fall. Both are cheap.

Mine is a Central Boiler Classic CL6048 purchased in 2006. I have the test strips and additives that came with it, but the previous owner said they are only if using water, not anti-freeze.
Mine is piped with copper tubing

NAPA stocks / sells coolant ph test strips for antifreeze and my bottle calls them Gold strips.

I get my additives from Robinson Supply Plumbing which is a large / commercial plumbing shop here. Keep my ph, corrosion / scaling inhibitors within their range. I just take a sample in and they test and tell me what to do.

Most who sells / services boilers should be able to supply AND make a test for you for nothing or a small fee if your not a customer.

You've got a real top shelf boiler. keep the burn cleaned every week or three depending on use and water in spec and it will last a really long time.

Plumbing suppliers like FW Webb carry antifreeze made for heating systems.
