Hello, Noob here to the forum. We have owned a M6060 Kubota with land pride RCF 3696rotary cutter. We use the tractor for moving round bales; cutting the pasture and other chores. I stuffed a used hay net on the back of the land pride, forgot it was there and turned the mower on. The net was sucked up into the drive shaft of the driver side gearbox cutting the seal there in creating a leaky gear box; bummer. I suppose i have to drop the blades and stump jumper to remove the gearbox to replace the seal? I removed the 'RUBBER DAMPER" couplers between the main gearbox and the mower gearbox and tried to slide the couplings out far enough to perhaps get to the seal. No joy. SO... is there a short cut that i cant see or do i remove the gear box to replace the seal?
Thanks for any and all help.
Raymond

Welcome.

A picture of your situation so far would be helpful, at least to me.

I am not personally familiar with this model of mower but I have never encountered an implement with multiple gear boxes that was not designed in a way that allowed for some sort of telescoping action or otherwise to disconnect the gearboxes without removing either.

So I am inclined that you should not have to remove either gear box.

You say you removed the damper couplings and couldn't get to the seal... Does that mean the entire rubber damper portion is removed or still in place?

I don't see a short cut. Maybe if you undo the two mounting bolts (#6 in diagram) your might get enough wiggle room the get it off the flex coupler (# 19 in diagram) and get at the seal. Maybe.

No way would I fight that stump jumper and pull the gearbox. I would remove the coupler on the other side, remove the four bolts holding the center gearbox and shove it one way or the other to allow the flange to come off the input shaft of the box in question.

Last night i thought about the gearbox... why cant i remove the bolts then just spin the gearbox enough to R&R the seal. I went by Ellis Equipment in Weatherford today and spoke with a mechanic, very helpful people at Ellis; and asked him about rotataing the gearbox. He said yes that is doable, the gearboxes are "clocked" at diffferent "angles" depending on the type of mower. So my plan of attack is removing the bolts and rotating the gearbox to R&R the seal. will let y'all know how it works out.

I still think the our bolts on the center gearbox will be easier to deal with than reaching under the stump jumper for the nuts on the leaking gearbox mounting bolts. Your choice.
