Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! I have a SVL97-3. It was next to a creek, with the Right Track in the mud/stuck/not bad though. That night, it rained more that it has in a long time. the creek water rose to the level of the breather... only on that side of the skid steer because that track was sitting lower. The following day, I was hooking up the winch and reached in/turned the key for less than 1-2 second. It sounded like the battery was low, not strong enough to start the machine... I could also hear the engine did not turn "completely over) as if the fan were stuck. It never came close to starting. I looked in the engine compartment and noticed the water level was right at the breather assembly height. The air filters were soaked. I used a shop vac and sucked water from the breather assembly. I took the air hose off the leaves the breather assembly and sucked water from it. I also sucked some water on the end headed toward the engine.

I drained the fuel/water separator. There isn't water in the oil. No water in the oil separator/filter.

The radiator coils on the inside have a lot of mud toward the bottom. This mud could have stopped the fan from turning when I initially turned the engine over. I have got most of this mud out.... I will get the rest. I am hoping the mud stopped the fan from turning/stoppign the engine from Turing over. However, I do feel some water went further into/toward the engine.

What else do I need to do before trying to start the machine again?

Thanks again my friends!!!
GLR

I have not tried to crank it.

You'll need to at the minimum pull the glow plugs and turn the engine over by hand to make sure there isn't water in the cylinders.

It gets a little more involved when the engine does not have glow plugs and the injectors are under the rocker cover.

Yea, That's a serious issue on that model!
Prepare for a lot of stinging and burning!

OK maybe not that, but you'll at minimum need to do some serious disassembly!

Thank you all.

Does the SVL-97-3 not have glow plugs?

Do all of the injectors have to be opened? And, do you open all injectors, then turn the engine manually to release the contamination?

Thank you all.

Does the SVL-97-3 not have glow plugs?

No, the V3800 engine uses a grid heater located in the intake manifold for cold start preheat.

Do all of the injectors have to be opened? And, do you open all injectors, then turn the engine manually to release the contamination?
The injectors will need to be removed from the cylinder head to clear the cylinders. They are located beneath the rocker cover, and cleanliness is a must. It can not be done outside in an uncontrolled environment. One speck of dirt in the open fuel system can destroy an injector, resulting in a damaged engine.
The engine must be turned manually with the injectors removed to clear the cylinders.

Do you have KTCA insurance on this machine?

If you have any insurance on the machine, I’d check with your insurer before you start wrenching on it further. I don’t know about KTAC but many scheduled equipment policies (standard personal, commercial, and farm inland marine policies) cover flood. Coverages can vary widely so YMMV, but it’s worth checking into if there’s any coverage at all on it.

The following excerpt, appears to be somewhat contradictory???????

I have not tried to crank it.

But apparntly it needs some clarification….

Or is this a case of “Being a little pregnant”?
