L35 started up fine this morning after sitting over night. Problem is probably solved. I've decided to order a new gasket and see if that seals better. I'm leery of using a sealant and potentially having a blocked oil passage.

Need to get the Kubota out of the garage so I can do a few other things, but I plan to pull it back in ASAP so as to check the injectors next.

Since you have it starting now, how about cracking one injector line at a time, while it is running, to see if all cylinders are firing.

Another update:

Post office lost, then found, the replacement gasket for the top cover. I hadn't been running it so as to not make a mess. At any rate, I picked it up and installed it today, ran it a bit, all seems to be staying dry. Engine seems to definitely be running smoother after valve adjustment, and when I get on the throttle it now throws a cloud of black smoke as it comes up to RPM's but clears up immediately. That said, I wouldn't exactly say it starts "easy". I had it sit for about a week and a half, and it took two attempts at starting with about half throttle on the pedal. It was in the 60s outside. I'll try it again tomorrow and see if it starts easier if it doesn't sit as long.

I did crack all 3 injector lines when it was running, one after another. Each cracked line had the same result - engine RPM's drop.
