I connected a mower to my 3 point for the first time this year (ran it all last year with no issues), I get the rear PTO up to 540rpm and as soon as I start moving forward the tractor dies. I had no issues prior to this with other attachments, so it’s not the seat safety switch. The 5A panel/OPC fuse blows when this happens. The wiring harnesses are all in tact with no pinches/kinks or rubbing through. Is it the PTO safety switch? What should I be looking for?

Was this the first time you ran it this year?

First time this year running it with the mower attached. I’ve been using it with the box blade, backhoe, etc. with no issues. This is the only PTO driven attachment I have though, so it makes me think it’s something with that PTO safety switch or something, but confused on why it blows the fuse.

If your pto selector has 3 positions ( mid, mid/rear, rear) try it in both the mid/rear and rear positions to see if that might possibly help.

Blowing the OPC fuse any time the HST pedal is moved is usually the neutral safety switch.

It's under the tractor touching the linkage on the HST pedal. I've had to replace mine multiple times.

Maybe I was wrong on my diagnosis, because now it’s doing it even without the rear PTO engaged. I can go forward or backward for less than a minute and then it dies and blows that fuse. So it’s not isolated to the PTO like I thought. I just replaced the seat safety switch and that didn’t resolve it. I will look into that neutral safety switch. I did look at it and it appeared fine, but it’s probably internal?

So I used a jumper on that neutral safety switch and now it’s working. It’ll get me by until I get a new switch! Thank you all for the input!
