Any recommendations would be apricated. I own a MX5400 and was greasing the loader and the land pride rotary mower and ran across what I believe a couple of zerk fitting of a different size, smaller.
Any specific manufacture brand greases guns come with an attachment or quick switch on the tip to accommodate these smaller zerk fittings?
Would rather not switch the zerk fitting to be the same size throughout the equipment, but if it becomes necessary, I'll have no choice.

Thanks in advance

You might look into the LockNLube grease coupler for your existing grease gun. It might be more accommodating of different zerk fittings than a standard grease gun coupler.

Most grease guns have an adjustable head to tighten and loosen.
I have a few manual guns. One pistol style and a locknlube brand lever style. Both with a LocknLube coupler. And longer flexible hoses.

Have cordless power tools? Buy a tool only that fits your current batteries.
I bought my dad a Dewalt 20v last year and it’s been great.

Got pics?

I have seen/used “flat zerks” in aircraft, and you have to use a “pointed tip” grease gun fitting.

But that does not sound like what you are describing.

As for brands of grease guns, I am happy with this brand (for a manual gun) (Lincoln brand )that I use for “special occasions"

For all my other “every day stuff” I use my 20V Dewalt battery operated with a Lock-N-Lube on the end.

I like the Lock-N-Lube, but it is quite big, so there are times where it won't fit into certain spots.

Just a heads up. (y)

Love my Milwaukee battery powered grease gun. Started using one years ago on a cat excavator I greased every day 2-3 tubes a day. Pictures of zerks might help. I keep a box of different size zerks as some get damaged or just get stuck.

I love mine, and I added a lock n lube coupler as well.

It’s made greasing equipment a breeze.

I also have a Milwaukee M18 grease gun with lock n lube. With my particular situation it is nice that I do not have to use both hands to pump a manual traditional style grease gun.

I also have two manual grease guns, traditional style and a small tube one hand style, but the go to gun is the Milwaukee.

I have some old no-name manual grease gun that I got for free out of a garage clean out one time.
Best grease gun ever. Probably USA made.

We have a Milwaukee at work. It is nice, and fast, but we've had it sent out for repair a couple of times. And realistically it is used pretty lightly. So I'm not entirely impressed with it.

I have been pretty pleased with my Hercules battery powered grease gun from HF.

I also use a dewalt 20v grease gun and just added a locknlube adapter on it. Seems to work well on all of my equipment.

Do you know what all they had to fix on it?

We have probably a dozen scattered across our crew trucks, and they each pump 2-3 tubes of grease every single day. There hasn’t been even a hint of a problem yet, but I’m always curious to hear others experiences.

I can't say I've ever run into this issue with either tractor or any implements. The zerks used seem to be standard 1/4" (6mm) ball stud size common to agricultural equipment. I must have 300 or more zerks across all equipment (the folding cutter has 40 or so) which includes tractors, implements, trucks, jeep and trailers and have never had an issue related to the size of the ball stud.

DeWalt or Milwaukee for battery powered, and one hand pump type for manual grease gun is my suggestion, with LockNLube of course, and the OTC adapter kit or similar comes in handy at times too.

With your MX, don't forget to remove the square drive plug when lubricating the front axle pivot.

I stayed with my tool of choice and got a Ryobi grease gun. I put the Locn N lube end on it and it works great for getting not only my FEL but all the MMM zerks. I also have five manual grease guns.

I'm not sure what the repair ended up being, or, for that matter who we ended up sending it to. But I know the first time, the motor seemed to have locked up or would not start. It was fixed. Then the second time the motor would run but the "pumping" part of it stopped working. It was also fixed.

Overall I like it, and apparently there's someone out there who works on them. Many others on here seem to have had good experiences with them so maybe it's a one off. Milwaukee seems like a solid brand in other areas at any rate.

Often they have a sale where you buy a battery and charger for $99 and get a free Hercules tool. I bought my grease gun that way. The tool normally sells for $139 without a battery and charger, so the sale is worth waiting for.

Can you post a photo of the square drive plug?

I have two air powered Lincoln grease guns. My older model, which is going on 20 years old, has given me zero problems, save for losing the pull handle to retract the spring TWICE. My newer Lincoln gun is a model 1162 that is now just over two years old, also zero problems. The zerk coupler on both Lincoln guns gave me zero trouble with leaking and seem to be well built. I tried a neighbors lock n lube on my gun and it would not fit in most of the recesses that Kubota put the grease fittings in on my tractor.
