Dr Curly Howard completed the quadruple Posterior Aortic Replacement on the L4600 aka Gus D. Kubota.
One of the OG hoses (2014) 0n the top link developed an aneurism from poor routing by previous owner, and since I HAD to do one, I had all four hoses made up yesterday to reset the clock on the rear hydraulics.
The patient is resting comfortably.

Lets see what did I do on my Kubota to day? Well I made up a ton of new cuss words, and curse phrases that I doubt have ever been strung together since the beginning of time. What you might ask , what could have happened for such a nice kind sweet person to go side ways? So it is a beautiful morning, after about 4 hours sleep, and off to the Doc,, again . Trash had been picked up, cans in the truck bed, the sun shinning birds chirping one of those mornings you feel alive. And you know, rain and warm weather the grass is going to take off, so yeah I 'll mow and get ahead of it some. Now the corner front scalp wheel that has been bouncing along figured it was time to leave,, OK I found the little bugger, and then as I backed up and hit a tree root I didnt know was there the left rear wheel and bracket figured they wanted to play hide and seek. Only it did it under the mower deck , so one badly chopped up wheel and a rather banged up bracket and from what I can see. Because I cant get up and down to good no more, at least one blade is sitting at a rather funny angle to the ground. So I came in and looked on line at new BX. Yeah I will have to fix this old "HO" .

No wood processor yet. Just a saw and splitter.
A friend said he would drop off his processor but the log pile is just about done and told him it is not worth it at this point

That makes that pile of split wood even more impressive (y)(y)(y)(y)

Well today was a busy day relating to Kubota. I went to the dealership and I think I am sold on buying the Z452KWi 60" EFI zero turn. It was a good deal...only was $1000 more for the EFI model over the carb model. Most comfortable lawn mower I ever sat in. Probably could sleep in it.

I'm not opposed to the carb model, it's just I'm worried about the electronics on the EFI model but I like 26hp motor and I guess it's more fuel efficient. With the amount of money I'd be putting down, the monthly payments would only be like 50 bucks haha. But the guy was like don't pay it off too fast because I'm required to have KTAC and it's already included in the price he gave me of $10,314 with the sale and discounts. He said he might be able to do more. But it's gonna be around this.

I also got a quote for $1000 for the LandPride BB1566 box blade. Which I think is pretty good! I am going to ask if I buy them all together, could they do a package deal? haha, its worth asking!

He also gave me a couple hats too. I now have several Kubota hats haha. Maybe I'll get more when I get the lawn mower! Or I should ask for a t shirt! haha

Anyways yeah...what a day. Good day over all....at least until I got home when I found out my brother dropped off his trailer to be rebuilt. I put the pallet forks on to remove the lumber, me thinking oh its not that heavy and didn't bother putting the ballast box on and well I was wrong, almost tipped the tractor over, I quickly dropped the loader before anything bad happened. I was just enough back from the fender on the trailer but still smashed it which is fine because they are being replaced! I put the ballast box on and what a difference that made, I was able to move all the lumber for the deck on the trailer in one go. Just needed some ballast and to be properly centered haha. Phew. close call there.

I took my crane scale and weighed one the boards, they are 115 pounds approximately each. Times that by 11 and its 1265 pounds give or take. Yeah that's a heavy load! I mean the tractor had no issues lifting it, just super wonky at nearly 20ft boards! Don't worry I had the forks at their widest setting, I was just moving something else after.

Finally getting around to installing the Grammer air ride pedestal in the M6060. The instructions say to remove the seat through the rear window so I figured I'd use the tailgate of the F-250 as a work platform and the left rockshaft makes a nice step. I had some cardboard and towels in place to prevent damage and it wasn't too bad getting the seat out although it's on the heavy side.

I got the standard pedestal off and had to cut down an allen wrench to access a couple of the bolts in the sliding track. The German symbols on the controls of the air ride pedestal are a case of huh?

Scope creep is rearing its ugly head with the air seat upgrade. While I have the seat out I might as well do some other things and complete another project that I started. The current list includes the following:
  • Make a template for a piece of rubber mat to fit the floor area around the seat - sound deadening and protection of the painted floor
  • Buy a pre-cut mat (6ft x 3ft) and cut to fit using the template
  • Add a Painless Wiring distribution block with one +12V and two +12V IGN circuits to power various in-cab accessories including the sprayer controls, control grip, screens etc.
  • Paint the floor to repair scratches
  • Finish wiring the Scorpion Control grip
  • Make a bracket for the TeeJet sprayer control box to connect to the new B-pillar bracket
  • Change the cab filter
  • Install the new rear window with defrost and wiper
  • Install the new side windows with defrost
  • Install the upgraded 100A alternator (not critical since I won't be running the defrost until next winter)
Hopefully I can get all of this wrapped up over the coming week.

One thing leads to many more 😆 That started for me today needing one thing out of the shed. Unfortunately, it was behind everything else.

Gave the driveway a scrape with the land plane and then tested out the new front QH. It's a cheapo vevor welded to a blank SSQA plate. Good enough for moving implements around. The QH may be OK on the rear of a BX or B, definitely wouldn't want to hook anything with it on the rear of the L. It may weight half of my QH15.

Moved on to cleaning out the shed to get to the thing I need at the very back. I'll use the grapple later and am going to clean the big tool rack later and list it. I find i don't use it much since we bought the RTV.

My turn. Finished the driveway, out by the road and the trails. Can’t get in to the woods due to blow downs. That is for another weekend

If you're a bit squeamish you might want to look away. Pictures aren't uploading currently so I guess I'll have to try again later.

Sometimes it's five steps backwards before you can move one step forward. I am impressed with how Kubota puts these things together, and particularly with how easy they make it to take things apart.

Had to wrest with the Plastic Mulch Layer. I forgot what a pain this thing is. Just getting it hitched up. Was struggling so no Quick Hitch, no Pat's Quick hitch ... had a real fight getting it hooked up to the lower arms. I had replaced the CAT 1 pins, and the new ones are actually a little longer, so I was expecting this to be easy... NOT. I had to use a pinch bar just to force the arm onto the pin and then put in get a pin into the end to keep the arm on. Now the fight to get it all setup and get the plastic laid.

I readjusted my finish mower back up to 5" cutting height, and looked at pulling the blades to sharpen ...

IMG_20260426_054035311.jpg

Once I got the cotter pin out, it came apart pretty easy ... The bolt head on the bottom side is 1 3/4" ... The castle nut is only 1 1/8"

Each spindle has two of these short blades, the bolts have a flange on them, so the blades can pivot on them like a brush hog does ... They have seen a few rocks, so I sharpened these, will do the others later

IMG_20260426_060001884.jpg

And then I greased it again.
