A rant. What were they thinking in Yahoo? Were they thinking at all?

Hello,

Yahoo surprised me with their "all new yahoo mail" with loads of new "features" (that 99.6% of their users neither want or use).

Instead of about 20 emails I can barely see 4, four, in words, FOUR emails in my inbox, despite using the compact setting now. The rest is cluttered up with garbage.

Are they completely brain dead in yahoo now?!?

The world is getting dumber by the day, or is that what people want and I am simply too old?

Maybe Kubota is the wrong forum for those things, but sorry, had to get that out.

Update:

had enough of this Yahoo nonsense getting worse and switched to Thunderbird email client.

- uncluttered inbox
- no advertising
- clear layout
- no "features", just plain, clean email

Good bye, Yahoo.

I still use 'Hoo as my throw-away email, but I've repeatedly declined to "switch to the New Yahoo Mail!!!!!!" Tried it, hated it and switched back.

Eventually, I expect I won't have a choice.

My "real" email (from my provider, had it for years) is via Thunderbird as well. Decent, no frills email client.

Have used TB for years, reminds me of the old Outlook Express. While it does have a zillion 'features', it's EASY to use and WORKS.

I've been using Yahoo mail since the 90's
It changed hands a few times but all said, I don't have any problem with it. I did start getting those pop up advertisements in my inbox but since changing a few settings I no longer get them.

I also use Malewarebytes service along with an ad blocker extension in my browser.

no issues at all. laptop or phone. most crap goes directly to the spam folder.... I give it a quick scan then delete it.
I do this a few times a day....

judging by the picture of your screen, You might need to be a bit more vigilant ....
13K emails in your Inbox?????????
WTF!

John,

Yahoo worked fine for me too since the 90s and their spam filter is brilliant.

But did you see my picture? The whole screen is taken up by unnecessary stuff leaving only room to display four email subjects!

Their user interface gets worse every time they change it in my humble opinion.

Now I had enough, seeing only four entries and having to scroll for ages is a waste of time.

The 13k are actually the number of unread emails ;)

Kind regards,

Are you sure you're not just trying to get out of getting all those "Targeted" ads for the Chinese dating services for Seniors!!! 😆

The funny thing is yahoo got hit with major complaints about security years ago. I'm surprised anyone is still using it. Of course, the same goes for gmail.

@hotmail.com could mean you are old, or simply an early adopter. I know a lot of old people with yahoo and gmail addresses.

Hotmail, launched on July 4, 1996, by Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith as one of the first web-based email services, revolutionized communication by allowing access from anywhere.

Fwiw, you can still create a new hotmail.com account.

N.Y,
I needed a new burner email account to verify who is the worst spam generator site after you setup an account, so I recently signed up for AOL 😁. I didn't even realize they're still around. They were my first online service after bulletin boards in the 80s. YOU GOT MAIL plays in my head every time I access it 😬.

Good bye, Yahoo.
I've been using Thunderbird since it was introduced, and am completely satisfied with it. It pulls emails from three different accounts, Yahoo, Gmail and BrightNet into one unified inbox. It has a lot of other features, like a calendar, which I have no use for. All I need is a simple email client, and that's what is is for me.
