Hello,

I recently got a new Kubota L2502 HST tractor, and after about 35 hours of use, I noticed that the 3rd function valve assembly was starting to leak fluid. Not a lot, and certainly immediately noticed. After some investigation I determined that one of the screws behind the metal guard (flush flat face screws with likely O-Rings behind them) was leaking fluid and making it look like one of the top lines was leaking due to the distribution of leaked fluid. I knew it was happening because I noticed that the rubber floor mat was starting to show some drips. So something happened that the screw backed out and started to leak. I've yet to actually use the 3rd function at all. Realizing that the unit becomes a path for the loader fluid, it gets pressure, so a leak is gonna happen.

This is background information, so now I am onto the topic.

The hydraulic fluid is low. As in low enough that adding a couple quarts to it isn't enough.. it just barely wets the dipstick now.

Is it possible that the added 3rd function and a light duty root grapple would cause this fluid to drop that low? It was added by the dealer and I don't really know how much one of those add on systems will take to fill the 3rd function and grapple cylinders might require this much more. Does anyone know? I just got another gallon of UDT2 and will be topping it off later, the progress seems like I could need at least another couple quarts at this point.

Thanks for comments.

The 3rd function takes almost nothing.

Grapple maybe 2 qts. max.

No orings on the bolts. May be leaking between valve and subplate or at one of the hydraulic hoses/fittings

Thanks Dan, I ended up adding almost 5 quarts to get there, and I see no leaks, but will keep an eye on it.
