2017 GR2120 mower bought new. The fan pulley on the protruding spline end of the crankshaft has a punched alignment mark. That is supposed to line up with a punch mark on the end face of the shaft to ensure correct balancing. The shaft does not have this alignment mark. How to achieve the correct alignment? Note - I put a paint mark on the shaft face across from the pulley mark but I don't trust that it is correct from the factory. For reference, the mark on the pulley looks like this:

Hi,

have another close look and maybe clean everything. I thought the same initially, but I found the mark right on the edge of the shaft.

Since you bought it new, the pulley must be in the correct position. Or were there repairs done and you have vibrations now?

I'll check the edge of the shaft. No repairs done. I've always thought it vibrates a lot but that's probably the nature of the beast. Rubber engine mounts are there for a reason. Thanks for replying. I'll let you know what I find.

If it is from the factory the pulley is in the correct position. Put your own mark with a punch in the right place before disassembly. That's what I did and then after taking it apart discovered the factory mark right next to mine 🤪

Found it! Needed my headband magnifiers, bifocals weren't enough. The punch mark is much smaller than the mark on the pulley, located exactly midway between the two sides of the male spline. Thanks again.
