Spent most of the day after I found that bushing finishing up the workbench I have been doing off and on since march. I then decided to say screw it and removed the snowblower from the tractor for a good power washing. I don’t have any salt so it was more just a gravel dust coating and some dirt that came off with water. I will say that the stickers that landpride uses for Branding and warning are not nearly as strong as the Kubota stickers on the tractor. Same story with the loader - the loader has cheap decals compared to the tractor. Not too worried about it though, just something I noticed. Once I got all the dirt and dust off I used a leaf blower to get most of the water off and the let it dry in the garage. I took the tractor side of the pto shaft and greased it only to realize that goes around the implement side of the shaft. Tommorow I’ll be removing the snowblower again to remove the cover of the implement side to clean and grease it. After it’s all back together I’ll be trying to sand the scratched areas of impeller housing and putting a coat of primer and paint in there to help extend the life of the blower and then coating with fluid film. I bought the Kubota rustoleum color so I’m curious to see how well that matches. I was buying the AC orange before (as TSC never had the Kubota stocked) and it seemed to match the box blade pretty well.

The people who cut the shaft at the dealer didn’t do a great job, lots of jagged, angled metal and plastic so I was filing that as well. It was bad enough the guy who delivered and attached it to the tractor said he will be talking to them as it was sloppy and not even. (I knew nothing about PTO attachments so I figured it’s normally a massive PITA) Thankfully, it hasn’t caused any problems and I don’t imagine it will, but when you spend that much money on an attachment, it would be nice if some care and attention was put into getting it ready for the customer. I have had another big issue with the blower that was remedied, but I’m a bit weary of the dealer and land pride after that sprocket issue and the sloppy PTO cut.

Hmm…. I don’t remember seeing an indication in the manual to check those. I never have! What is the spec for torque on those?
I checked mine yesterday. I used the German specs (gutentight) on them because I didn't see them quickly and had work to get done. Also checked the other lug nuts. I have an oil change coming up and loader bolts will get checked then.

We got the pad almost completed for the new conex boxes to be delivered. The wife will have storage spot and so will my dad, they each are getting their own.

I took care of a couple roadside problems yesterday. This tall skinny fir had uprooted and was hanging down over the bank with the top out in the road.

P1010062-1.JPG

So I cut it off and dragged it back into the woods to add to the coarse woody debris that is all ready there there.

P1010067.JPG

The second one was a tall skinny popple/aspen hanging out over the road and towards the power line that I wanted gone before it caused trouble.

P1010068.JPG

I pulled it over backwards into the woods with the winch.

P1010069.JPG

I used a double hinge. This is the first time I tried a Double Hinge. I put the camera out so I could see what happened while I was down at the tractor operating the winch - Made one of my geezer videos in case anyone was interested. A double hinge is supposed to allow a lot of flex before breaking and have superior holding strength. I was a little alarmed to see the tree start to roll early on, but the hinge held. Maybe the double hinge saved me from disaster - Who knows ? The tree tipped all the way over until the top got tangled in the trees that were behind it. I was pulling hard with the winch trying to get the tree down through the tangle when the hinge broke. You can tell that it was the force of the winch pulling back on the stem that broke the hinge by the way the butt jumped off the stump. Being an aspen tree didn't help me any. Once the hinge broke with the tree still hung up I changed the winch set-up and pulled it down.

Here is the video - about 8 minutes.

Took off the rear forks, and hooked up the finish mower, got it and the tractor greased, planning on mowing tomorrow ...

My little SCUT wasn't up to the task of putting the brush hog up on my trailer the way I wanted, as I'm trying to make more room in my barn, and I only plan to use the brush hog once a year ...

So, I took the mower back off, and grabbed the rear forks ...

IMG_20260413_185553252.jpg

Took lots of measurements, as I needed to clear the tops of the rear stabilizers, and that little shelf on the right that hangs down!

IMG_20260413_191142349.jpg

I actually picked up the stabilizers about an inch and a half, so the suspension would sink a bit to clear the top of the cab!

IMG_20260413_191501978.jpg

IMG_20260413_191903116.jpg

Got it braced up, and called it good enough!

IMG_20260413_192909160.jpg

IMG_20260413_193200660.jpg

Now I can put my rototiller and land plane up there, plus probably my little water wagon, which will free up a bunch of floor space.

Used the L3901DT and pallet-forks to move some metal. Used three 2"x4"s and clamps to hold the metal in place. I had the front two clamps on the forks also. Worked pretty good.

Went out to mow this afternoon, by then it was 80° out and 68% humidity, wouldn't have even started if I didn't have a cab! The biting flies/bugs were also chomping on me in the morning, don't know how they could handle the 15-25 mph wind, but they sure liked me!

Gras was 15"-16" tall ... And thick.

IMG_20260414_130708192.jpg

I had to slow down to about 4.5 mph, as I was getting a lot of pop ups, so it took me longer ... Plus I then realized that I forgot to grease the actual axles . . . Got about three squirts, and grease gun was empty ... I got back to mowing and was wondering what I was going to have for dinner, as it was so windy out , there wasn't much chance of my smoking a roast in my gas grill , that I had bought, then it dawned on me to put it in the crock pot,so back in the house to get that and the rest of the fixings ready ...

With all my delays, I still got about 6 acres mowed in 6 hours ... Fuel was getting low, so I called it quits, filled the tank, and the pit roast was talking to me!

I still got about 2.5 acres left to mow ... Maybe tomorrow?

The FIMCO 200 gallon sprayer was supposed to be delivered today, so this morning between work meetings I got the MX all ready to go with pallet forks so I could head down the driveway and meet the delivery driver. Then I got a call from Utah telling me that they'll deliver on Thursday even though the shipment arrived at the local depot at 9:00am! I told them I'll pick the sprayer up tomorrow morning and have them load it onto my trailer. At least the MX is ready to unload the sprayer from the trailer once I get home.

I did get the 106 gallon fuel storage tank (on a steel pallet that I made) back in the garage where it belongs.

Now that I got my barn a bit more organized, I got more room for a third tractor! 😂

IMG_20260415_062133701.jpg IMG_20260415_062317596.jpg

Lots of "extra" space over here now ...!

And really here in front of the one set of forks I dropped in front of the trailer too ...

Bit of a royal PIA but thanks to the old solvent and trans fluid trick along with an air hammer and a 2” aircraft strap I’ve almost got it apart now to source cylinders waiting for the operator manual to show up hopefully it shows how the front frame section mounts up. The front pivot pin was a bitch it’s 6 7/8 inches long and it was seized in place took a full day of playing with it to get it out now to finish taking it apart to sand/grind clean up the mess it made and start looking at what needs to be cut out and replaced. The fun never stops 😂😂

The pallet forks are earning their keep this week. I picked up the FIMCO 200 gallon sprayer this morning and got it out of the trailer and mostly unpacked. It's a beast of a sprayer.

Repainted the impeller housing of the sb2064. I am not a painter and hate doing it, so I didn’t mask anything off (especially since the first time i take it out next year it’s gonna get scratched up to bare metal again.). First I sanded the area I planned to paint with 80 grit than wiped it clean. Used the rustoleum farm and implement gray primer and their Kubota colored paint. Came out really well considering I didn’t do a whole lot of prep. I did get some runs just below where the chute meets the impeller but I’m not super concerned. Not like I’ll be looking at it while blowing snow. Just wanted to keep it protected while being stored until next winter. I’ll also be coating all the metal in fluid film after the paint is fully cured. It matches the land pride orange way better than I thought it would, nearly an exact match. I did two heavy coats of primer and have done one of the orange. I may do another orange coat tonight. I’m going to do the same to my tractor floor boards soon as I messed those up this winter with ice boots. I ate it quite a few times when I got off the tractor and then got the spiked ice boots, and never wore anything else when I was clearing snow. I also never fell again haha. I may cut up some thick rubber mats or something for next winter so I can still wear them without damage IMG_5078.jpeg IMG_5087.jpeg IMG_5088.jpeg

That's about how I paint implements too, even some tractor areas. These are tools not collectibles, and the last time I checked there is no Concours d’Elegance for tractor implements. 😂

Dodged a bullet yesterday. Got a frantic call from my son at the woodlot during a thunderstorm that the diesel transfer tank shed has tipped over in the wind. Rushed up there and sure enough, tank was upside down. Miraculously, not a drop of diesel spilled. That cap has a gasket that did its job. By the time i got there, he had the KX033 in position. Fortunately, I had reinforced the pallet and bolted the tank to the substructure. Chains around the pallet and backed ever so slowly. Flipped it upright. Not a scratch on the tank or pump assembly. The roof supports were split but I count myself lucky. Estimated 60 gallons in the 100 gallon tank. Could have been a terrible mess. Will relocate or anchor down pallet this weekend. So many lessons learned in developing the farm.
