I found out a BX bucket makes a pretty handy sawhorse for cutting some rough 2x6s.

The space between the level indicator and the chain hook is just a bit bigger than a 2x6. Works great! (y)

That works unless your hook is inline with the loader arm. 😂

Has anybody tried Line-X or a similar truck bed coating? Would require careful masking around the spindles, but otherwise...

Just wondering.
That’s what I thought of first as well haha.my worry is that if snow or water got under it it would cause issues and I think heavy wet snow would stick to the bumps in it. But I may be wrong there.

Just bought some Land Prode pallet forks. Offloading a pallet of fertilizer bags. Quickly learned the lifting limitations of my L3302 but I take the responsibility for that... no weight on the back end and uneven surface... removed a few bags off the pallet and all good. Now I have to figure out how to setup the FSP500 for the right distribution of all of the fertilizer.

Finally received the pin I needed to attach my undercutter and removed the plastic mulch layer that had been sitting there all winter. Need to get that up so I can start spreading the fertilizer.

Just came in for lunch after a couple of hours of working on the second driveway. It's going well given that I need to dig out around 150 yards x 12 ft x 1 ft = 600 cubic yards of compacted dirt! Add in all the rocks that slow me down and it's a big job. A dozer would be nice but I'm getting it done.

This rock came out this morning. It was mostly buried near the transition from the existing gravel driveway to the new driveway and it's been causing me grief for a while now. Another is below it and it might stay where it is if it ends up being at or below grade.

Light duty for the L today being mostly a big lawn cart, doing a few spring chores around the yards.

Pulled out the T for the first time since last fall and mowed the front yard at our house. Back yard and yards at the other two houses don’t need mowing yet.

Spent a bunch of hours today moving dirt, grading, shaping etc. I have a decently wide transition to the other driveway so making turns with trailers won't be a problem. I still have a lot more to do before it's ready for gravel but it's finally starting to look like I'm making decent progress. I have a horse manure moving job tomorrow so time to switch gears and get ready for that.

Took down the old corn crib today to make room for a couple of conex boxes. Still got a little more material to move today after church and then will start working on leveling things up in preparation for rock.

I got home yesterday morning before sunup, it was a chilly 33°F and windy morning, so I decided to work in the garage for a bit until it warms up!

Since I got my rear 3pt forks, I figured I was going to need more weight up front if I was going to carry a full 275 gallon tote of water ... I was home the other day, and had added about 75 Lbs of liquid to each front tire, which was about halfway up, at the 3 O'clock position, as I noticed when using the FDR 3690 finish mower, the front tires would slide/plow a little on a hard turn ...

I had previously figured out a way to add weight to the back of my SCUT but using a 3/4" black iron pipe through the BH frame mounts, and already have 275 Lbs of weight lifting plates, so I wanted to be able to "share" those ...

IMG_20250514_122140184.jpg

I made brackets that I bolted on to the bottom of the front brush guard weight bracket ...

Then I grabbed the tote and headed to the creek, but didn't add the weight plates, as I wanted to see what would happen without them ...

IMG_20260328_114748625.jpg

Then I started it up, and tried to lift it! Only the front lifted! Here you can see the brackets I made ...

IMG_20260328_115016678.jpg

I let it back down, and left the tote there, and went up to the barn, and added 275 Lbs to the front ... Still not enough!

IMG_20260328_120424082.jpg

So I opened the valves and decided to "experiment" while it was draining, I climbed my 195 Lbs onto the front brush guard, the front tires came back down to earth! I continued to drain until the front tires were on the ground, at about the 225 gallons mark, I then did a trick I learned from using my SCUT previously, tilt the tote towards the tractor, as the water moved closer to the tractor, so I sucked in the top link ... You can see how the weight is now closer to the front, the level of the water is higher on the front side.

IMG_20260328_121048254.jpg

Then as I was crossing the creek, I started up the other side, and the water " leveled out" and I ended up doing a wheelie!

IMG_20260328_121255551.jpg

So I opened the valves and drained more water out ...

Here is a short 24 second video of it "coming back to earth"!

Need more ballast

Ended up at about 175 gallons to keep the front end on the ground going up hill, AND be able to steer! But I got the watering done!

IMG_20260328_122012520_HDR.jpg

It has a quick hitch on the back which weighs 72.4 Lbs, then a set 3pt forks which weigh 487.4 Lbs, and a 134 Lb 275 gallon tote, full of water which is another 2200 Lbs ... So 2893.8 Lbs!

Screenshot_20260329-041731~2.jpg

The tractor is rated for 3860 Lbs lift "at the pins" on the three point, and 2980 Lbs "24 behind" the "pins" ... Definitely a "full load"!

Here you can see the square end of the lower arm pin for the quick hitch at the purple arrow ... The water really starts about a foot farther back!

IMG_20260328_122314517_HDR~2.jpg

On my lunch break while I was grilling a few burgers ... I added more water, I figure another 25 Lbs each, it's now filled to the 11 O'clock position for the valve stem ... Roughly 100 Lbs in each now.

IMG_20260328_131356426_HDR.jpg

Then I took the weights off, removed the brackets, primed and painted them, as it had warmed up to 60°F ... Hope to reinstall them this morning before I head back out on the road.

I have room on the pipe for another 8 of the bigger 25 Lb weight plates, I'll be looking for more, I found all of these on eBay for about $1 a pound shipped, they are old, and oddballs, but weight is weight, and cheaper than official tractor weights!

I figure with the extra weight, and only filled to the 250 gallon mark, it should do OK, time will tell!

Implements stored on pallets outside appeared a week ago. Sunny to rainy warm days are melting the snow fast. But became a bit impatient. So I made a bit of a mess to help nature melt the remaining snowpack. The 40-50F days and sub freezing nights has created rock hard snow pac. Initially thought. Snow scoop and shovel time. Rock hard. Hey dolt. You have a tractor. Use it.

Took the M6060 out to a horse property this morning and spent as much time driving there and back as I did loading the manure into a dump trailer. The driver said there was 15 yards but I would have thought less. It was about as easy a job as I've done and the driver complimented me on my precision bucket work loading him up. 😂 The entire pile filled up the dump truck without any room to spare.

It was worth the effort and I've got $350 in my pocket and nothing got broken, and the horses were very sweet. The truck, trailer and tractor are stuck at the bottom of the new driveway which turned to mud with all the rain. The F-450 is a great truck but it's not designed to pull 20,000 lb up a muddy, slippery hill.

yep. received those hard lines for the front. swapped them out and 100% hooked the bucket up backwards. blew a hose on the right side... should be here tuesday. i should probably count up all those hoses and just replace them - the ones that are obviously orginal anyway. has anyone with an older model not said that? got pictures today tho. before and after. added a fair amount of rust protection to the wood deck on the trailer tho.

I'm trying to understand how you can hook a bucket up backwards? I'm guessing that it has something to do with pin on buckets?

I got my painted weight brackets on this morning ... I primed them and painted them yesterday with Kubota flavored Rust-Oleum!

While they don't match, I'm sure official Kubota paint would match the 21 year old paint either!

I "was" going to take the brush guard off yesterday, and scrape the rust, and put on ospho, then paint, but ran out of time ... Maybe later ...

i had the dump/curl reversed at the cylinder end. it would dump (when i curled with the stick) but would not curl when i went the other way. i think it has something to do with how the valve allows for the return to tank but i don't know the technical details of how that works. i had thought that maybe it was overextended and the piston was blocking the inlet for the curl function ... so, i ... uh ... helped it curl... which is how i blew that hose. i stopped when it was still a pinhole, so once i realized what i had done i was able to put it right and test it before it completely blew. so ... $25 hose and a big mess.

You don’t have a loader for that tractor? Would have put a full load in the bucket for front weight.

Well these are over a few days- but it’s my first spring with her! The 2601 is proving to be the Goldie locks size for the property. I’m really happy with it.

cleared some brush with my Temu Garvee rake- It did pretty well for $130 rake! lol. It goes in the hitch of the ballast box so it can dig the tines in a bit if need be with 800lbs of concrete on it. I’m going to replant this area for pollinators- there is a poweline easement so i can’t return it to woods. But I can fill it with clover and milkweed and such.
