Took filters to dealer for inspection, they were cut open and no abnormal contamination.
Dealer to ck and inspect pto and noise when shuttle is in forward or reverse. Dealer gave estimate of 8k labor plus parts for to. Told Dealer to go ahead. Pto clutch assembly replaced . Total bill a little over 10,000. Dealer said they would have to remove cab to inspect transmission and may not find anything. So I paid bill and drove tractor home . Will see this spring if anything gets worse or breaks

HOLY-THIT !!

(I believe my Sirius-Headset idea was much-less-expensive than that.!)

So Sorry you had to go thru THAT. I can’t help but think it couldn’t have been any more painful to just keep operating it until the damn thing failed completely…and then get ALL NEW parts in it.

It sounds like you have a bearing bad on one of the transmission shafts internally. Hard to say which one. This would require splitting the tractor and disassembly of the trans to find the bad bearing.
Will it grenade and take out the whole thing? Probably not. But it may get louder as time goes on. Or as in my case similar, the noise eventually went away. I guess as the balls smoothed out from wear.
You might put a couple extra magnets at the bottom of the case, on the outside to catch even more sluff.

Can you post pictures of the metal stuck to the filter magnets?

Never took pictures of filters since I always had them and never thought to take pictures when inspected at dealer . I would say they are gone since it's been almost a week.
Anyone know of a website(s) that would have supports/Jack's to be able to split tractor?
Reason asking if noise(s) keep getting worse I think I'll remove cab and split tractor myself because exploratory surgery at the dealer is expensive and if it cost 10k for what was just done, then I can't imagine what they would charge to remove a cab and split tractor at engine.

Since pto is operational with normal engagement would the use of the 15 foot bush hog be OK? Is the size (15 foot) to large for the hydraulic clutch pto ?
