Hi everyone, i have a GR2100 that is leaking transmission fluid from the breather hose. Has anyone had this same issue and can offer advise? It has the right amount of fluid onboard, not overfilled. It starts leaking after about 2 minutes of operation.

I think it needs to be upright in the cut of the seat base. That keeps it above the rest of the system so you don't get a siphoin effect.

Also, be sure the leak is the breather and not the small return elbow hose on top of the hydro. The hose is part 10 in this photo.

Well I am sorry that suggestion didn’t work out.

Did you read post #2 and do what it asked?

I guess that I would take the fill port plug out and see if that stops it from overflowing. If so, I would still say it is a venting problem. If it still leaks without the fill plug then there is some other problem making it leak.

If you can see the fluid through the fill plug can you tell if it is foaming or loaded with bubbles?

Okay thank you, I put the hose back in the seat rest when I replaced the vent. I will try what you said and what the # 2 post says. Thanks again.

@Hugo Habicht did some extensive work on a G1900 so may have some ideas on how to fix your leaking problem.

Hopefully (since I now sent him an alert from this thread) he will be along and make some suggestions.

Hmmm, I don't think I can give you more advice than given by Russell and others already.

Firstly, the vent should be at a high point. And secondly check for foaming of the oil. It may be that air is getting in at the suction side of the hydraulic pump.

Didn't see a leak from hose 10 in the picture. Ran the tractor without the fill plug, no leaks from the vent, but the fluid is loaded with bubbles. Does that mean It's sucking air? Thank you

Those air bubbles are probably why is leaking out that pipe! The fluid gets foamy and expands its volume and can fill the case with the froth being forced out of any open point. There is probably not too much leakage but more likely a weeping leak that makes a mess over time.

The pump could be cavitating (check the fluid level) or a hose on the suction side could be leaking air into the pump.

Looking at the illustrated parts list (shown below) shows a rubber hose connecting two steel suction pipes that have o-ring connections. I would recommend replacing that rubber hose and replacing the o-rings or tightening the hose clamps if possible. You could try tightening the bolts at the bottom connector of the steel pipe, there have been reports of that type of joint leaking after it was “whacked by a stick or something”.

I would go a bit further, check / replace up to and including O-ring #510 on the drawing above.

I bought all the parts from the diagram including 510. When I was removing the mowing deck I noticed that my pto seal hade a slow leak as well as my drive shaft seal. So me and my dad decided to spilt the case and rebuild / upgrade the transmission. We got the upgraded Gr 2020 transmissions case. We replaced all the rubber rings on the transmission including the seal to the drive shaft, pto and 4wd , the hydraulic control valve, hydraulic pump, and the copper washers to the pump. The tractor is 20 years old this year and so we figured while we have it apart we might as while replace all those parts. We have the case all sealed all back up and everything back on except the PTO. I don't under stand how to put this back in correctly. We only replaced the seal to the PTO because everything else with it was fine. Any help or advice for putting the PTO back in correctly would be amazing.

Thanks for the help.

Okay, not big deal. We got the workshop manual for the Kubota Gr 2000 and Installed the PTO based off what that book said. Everything went really well, the mower is running awesome and no fluid has leaked out of the overflow yet. So I'm hoping the air leak is solved.
