Took the blower off the LX2610 today, so that pretty much guarantees snow by next week.

We are looking at 7-9 here on Sunday/Monday. Winter is not quite ready to give up just yet.

National weather service posted yesterday that el nino (what ever its called) split and may have another snow storm in northern states. But, we can blame SAR if it happens. Takes the heat off Trump since he is blamed for everything.

Diesel is up to 4.99 here, I’ll be sending @SAR Tracker the bill if we get more snow lol. Feel like I’m in Cali, even gas is 3.97!!

I might be part to blame. I took my snow plow off my Polaris Ranger yesterday and plan to take the rear blade off the tractor after I do some light passes on the community road today. :D

The long range forecast only says wintry mix. Since we have 4x4s and snow melts pretty quickly, I feel we're safe.

QH, attaching or removing the blower takes just a moment. Need to remove both the blower and tire chains to increase the chance of snow. +10C/50F right now and sunny first day of Spring. Unseasonably warm. Latest Spring dump was in early May couple decades ago. Since then rare to get any heavy real snow beyond early mid - March. Too warm. Rain is fine. Reduces the risk for Spring forest fires. I sort of enjoy having ~1 month less snow cover v. the 80's into early 90's.

Purchased a few gallons of diesel on Wednesday. Still winter blend. $4.15/gal. Not complaining. Regular gas was $3.19/gal. Not complaining.

Have not and will not remove the chains and blower until......????

Mid-August at the earliest.

To be honest, I think it is safest leaving everything on the tractor all year round. ;):)

I think it was Skeets clearing snow off the driveway with the grass cutting deck. Thinking about it, I believe it should be possible to cut grass with a snow blower too, once it reaches a certain height.

Last day of the season snowboarding. Unless you want to uphill it. ~34F for the first hour or so made for fine Spring conditions. Then the "heat" arrived. Snow transformed to mash potatoes rapidly. Went home before noon. Hit 60F at ~1300. Snow forecasted for the next 4 of 5 days.

Dump run. Passing through town noticed gas and diesel prices significantly increased since last Wednesday. $3.59/gal for gas. $4.79/gal for diesel. Life. At least we have no shortages. Yet....

Snow? Depends on what day it is. Whiplash changes in daily highs. So far, the largest 24hr swing has been +40F difference.

Too many freeze, thaw cycles this past winter. Total snowfall up to today is 139 inches(353cm). Basically an "average" snowfall, but snow pack never exceeded ~1 yd. Water well head sticks 18" above grade and is still below the snow surface. Rock hard right now. My body mass just puts light boot prints on the surface. But you can see lines running downhill where the melt water is running under the surface. Good sign of "Spring".

"Positive" thing depending on your perspective about the freeze thaw cycles is the lack of ice formation on L. Superior. For the first time in years the Meyer's Beach Sea Caves (aka ice caves) opened to the public. Sort of. National Park Service required pre-purchase passes limited to I think 2500 people. One time visit passes. Caves closed after one day of being open. Big L. Superior swells broke up the ice. Nature telling humans to go away and lose memory of the area. Last time I visited was March 11, 2008. Relatively unknown to outsiders. Very pleasant experience. You could just decide to go and find a more or less empty parking lot. Pay your $3-5 parking fee and enjoy the quiet beauty of the area. Then. "Discovered". Became a zoo of humans.

They are calling for 70’s this weekend. Time to put away the winter tools. If by chance it does snow, send the bill to SAR. He started it!

Leaving snowblower on ain't working for me. Mine is still on and getting used. It's now snowed everyday this "Spring". But's it's 40 degreees today. Time to take off the snowblower!

I have no real reason to put the loader back on yet, so I'll leave the snow blower on for another week or 2 just in case...

Driveway is totally exposed. Well casing top is 18" above grade and still under the snow pack. Another 50F day, but below freezing nights. Rock hard snowpack is now melting very, very slowly. Had to fire up LOT(LittleOrangeTractor) today to help nature expose the summer implements that are stored outdoors. Was tempted to store away the snowblower and remove the chains. But.... One Spring decades ago. Removed the snowblower and placed it on the pallet. +2ft LakeEffect Spring dump. Then there was the year it dumped on us in early May. Forecast is for 4-5" this coming Thursday night. Translation. 0 to ? inches. You gotta love mud season to live in the North. Snow, slush, rain, mud, sunny days. Repeat.....Beats forest fires.

Screen Shot 2026-03-29 at 3.01.31 PM.png Plenty of snow still sitting around. Nordic ski trails are still in good shape. Local alpine ski area has closed for the season. Uphill only. Problem is no grooming. Surface is boiler plate hard. If it does dump. Time to break out the Verts and powder surf board. Most around here think I'm sick in the head wanting a dump. To each his own or whatever.
