Hello all,
I’m looking for clean, low hour L39. I currently own a clean low hour L35 that I’ll be selling once I find the right L39. The reason I’m planning on upgrading is I need a bobcat front end bucket hookup for a grapple, forks, etc.
I live in Schuylkill County, PA and willing to travel a reasonable distance for the right machine.
Thanks for reading,
Bob S.

Unless you're wanting more capacity, you can add SSQA and third function to your L35. I think SSQA was standard on the L39, but not third function.

I was surprised to see the loader capacity on the 39 is almost 50% higher than the 35.

Hi, Yeah the 39 will pick up 1200 lbs or so more than my 35, big difference. I’m considering getting a sawmill, have a lot of dead ash here and I gathered quite a few of the logs, could have used something a tad stronger so I figured I’d see what’s out there. I think the 39 is going to be a tough find. Been watching marketplace for about a month only saw one within 250 miles or so. That one sold the next day.
thanks for your reply.

Not sure your price range, but maybe consider the L47 as well?

Would prefer a 47 but they’re out of my price range. Drove over 300 miles yesterday to check one out a a rental yard. I know rental equipment gets abused but this was more than cosmetic. It had no brakes, the business owner said the backhoe was never taken off but apparently it worked itself loose, the top pins and the lower hooks were all worn. When you’d lower the boom the whole works would shake up and down. My L35 is still as tight as the day it was built.
I’m a couple months shy of turning 76. I want a machine I can enjoy using not spending months to get it the way I’d like it.

Well then, a 48 or 45 maybe? Good luck.

Thanks, DG I did see that. i thought I had a deal on a 47 but the dealer backed out.
$28,900 seems a tad high for a 39. I missed out on one like that near me here for $22,000. Was sold when I contacted seller, the day after it was listed. Thanks again.

I was in the same boat a couple months ago. Looking for an upgrade I kept an eye out for an L39 or L45 and a 2007 L39 showed up at my local dealer.
Yes, it was a tad high and a bit over my budget at $29,900. In excellent shape with 504 hrs I went for it.

It included rear chains, 3 pth arms, and a heavy duty back blade.

At the asking price they put new rear tires on and delivered it. The tires weren’t worn but weather checked.

Looking around at what people were asking for well used and abused and smaller machines, then throwing hauling fees on top, I think I got a good value for my money.

Keep looking, be patient and you’ll find the right machine at a price you can live with.
Take your time, they’re out there. Good luck my friend!

With just 504 hours you got a good deal. Plus all those extras add up fast.
im not in a rush. I bought a L35 private in 2012 when I retired. It’s a 2004 model that only had 303 hours. Had the 3pt hookup and 2 extra unused brand new buckets and hardly a scratch on it. The hour meter just turned 1000 hours a month or so ago and it looks and runs as good as the day I got it. The only reason I’m considering upgrading is I’d like something with some more front end lift and with a skid steer front bucket hookup that I can attach a grapple. I won’t settle for any in a lesser condition than what I have now.
Enjoy your L39!

504 hours in 18 years or so. It amazes me how wasteful people are. What do you think the cost of ownership per hour was?

My friend has been wanting/needing a tractor for a few years and we went looking at a few Kubota models over the New Year holiday but it soon became apparent that at 6ft-2in and with size 13 feet he'd need something easier to get in/out or on/off. A few weeks ago I saw a nice L47 on the lot at the local dealer and knew that it would be a great tractor for him. If anything too much tractor for his needs but he'd never feel that he should have gone bigger.

Typically dealer prices are higher than private sales but I have a really good relationship with this particular dealer and that's worth something to me. They were asking close to $50k for a 2018 model with 575 hours on it. It has an hydraulic thumb (an expensive upgrade), chains front and rear, 24" bucket, 3rd function etc., and although used it was obviously well taken care of. It was bought from the same dealer in 2018, serviced there over the years and recently traded in on a new purchase. My friend bought it for $48k and no sales tax (8% or more in WA) and I delivered it to him for $350 which just about covered the cost of fuel out and back. A new L47TLB set up like his is $80k today and it'll do nothing that his won't do.

The price was fair for this tractor and it will outlast him, no doubt about that.
