The BX loader should easily lift any implement that the BX itself can lift. For digging, the answer is a piranha bar, not necessarily a bigger tractor. None of them dig particularly well with the bucket, the bucket is mainly for picking up stuff that's already in a pile.

Lots of people here will tell you to get a ride on or get a 3ph mower. Personally, that's solving problems that I've never had, there's no actual issue with the MMM. I understand that other people feel differently. For me personally I don't want two machines, and I don't find 3ph mowers to be any easier to attach than a MMM. And I find a MMM easier to use around trees. On my new property I'll have a 3ph flail, but I got hydraulic side shift - so I don't have to drive around the trees, I'll just shift the mower left to right.

Paul, none of us are getting younger ,the older we get. One day, when your trying to get back up from finally getting the MMM on, you'll understand why some of us older guys went 'dedicated'.
Hay, if you're young and fit, enjoy it while you can !!

My reality is different. I can get the 7ft rotary cutter RCR1884 on either tractor in 3 minutes, maybe less. I pick it up with the QH, connect the PTO shaft and off I go. Now the 12ft folding cutter is a different story but I might have found a better way to deal with the very heavy PTO shaft. The flail tends to stay on the MX all summer, but this year I'm going to see if it'll work with the QH10 which would make on/off easier.

When I had the BX and 54" mid mount mower (RCK54-23BX) it would take me half an hour at least, and probably closer to 45 minutes to get that thing on the tractor. I used to store it up against a wall in the barn and it was awkward to get it from the barn to the garage (flat concrete floor), and then mess around getting it connected. I hated that thing, and taking it off and storing it wasn't much fun either. I sure don't miss it, not to mention the awful ride on the BX in the lower field.

Wish I could use a finish mower but it sticks out to much and would probably take out my AC unit I need to cut around. A flail would work but cant cut lawn grass with it. Wish they made one for lawns. Putting the MMM on a BX sucks donkey dicks. Takes me almost an hour lining it up perfect and hooking it up. With my lowest 6 discs fused, its a bitch crawling around on the floor.

From my research, those Y blades aren't the greatest for a regular lawn. Hammer blades are for field cutting. Know something I don't know?
It just depends on what you're trying to achieve. A flail with hammers can do a very decent job but it's not going to compare to the finish you would get on a putting green. I cut this area with the Del Morino with hammer blades. You can see what I started with to the left.

Found a Mechmaxx 48 inch that should work on my 1880. $1499. Going to do some CL searching to see if I can find a used one. Don't know anything about this company.

Mechmaxx is Chinese stuff with a poor reputation for quality and support.

From my experience in shopping for a flail mower (or most other stuff) anything that cheap is that cheap.

If you're only mowing grass, Y blades would probably be better than hammers. Hammers are for rougher cuts, mulching small sticks and the like. They're also better if you have stones and the like that you may hit, as I understand it. I believe Y blades give a nicer cut if you're only mowing grass.

I understand what you're saying. But this is a recurring discussion on this forum, where there are a set of people who really dislike MMMs. But lots of us like them, so there always needs to be an acknowledgement that it's horses for courses. They have their place.

My view remains:
1. Lots of people's views on MMMs are set by the BX. The MMM on the BX is way harder to put on and take off than the B2601. As I've said a number of times (and posted a video to prove it), the B2601 comes off in about a minute, goes on in about two, and that's without doing any magic contortion. The tractor does all the work - there's no horsing the implement around (unlike my experience with 3pt implements). The only thing you lie on the ground for is the driveshaft, and that drive shaft is actually easier than most 3pt drive shafts. So when people talk about how hard MMMs are to attach, I'll always reply saying "you're over egging it, and I have the proof"

2. For a lot of people, a MMM is easier to navigate around obstacles. I mow a lot of roadside, and much of what I mow would be a real hassle with a rear mower. Sure, some things would be nicer with a flail, but some of what I mow would be impossible with a rear mower - I put the tractor up banks and into corners. My significant other also mows with the tractor, and she finds a MMM way easier than a 3pt implement. It behaves like a ride on mower, not like a tractor.

I'm not saying nobody should use 3pt implements. Clearly lots of people do. I'm just saying that people shouldn't post inaccurate information about the difficulty of attaching the B2601 deck, and people giving advice should leave room to say "3pt is good for this thing, MMM is good for that thing. What is the thing you want to do?"

(I also have a similar beef with the people who keep posting "buy a ride on, you can get a whole ride on for less than the price of just the deck." Not everyone wants another machine, not everyone has somewhere to store it, and some of those inexpensive ride ons really don't deal well with thick grass. When you have a 26hp diesel tractor, sometimes you want to use it to mow your lawns, not a crappy gas ride on.)
