I don't think so.

I recently moved from Colorado to TN without understanding the necessary maintenance in my new environment. It's much more humid with higher temperatures, nice conditions for diesel algae. After multiple filters, a tank clean out and a fuel additive, the algae issue seems to be resolved. Unfortunately, my pumped worked overtime on a few occasions and eventually got too warm and/or clogged from algae residue. The pump was drawing too much amperage, blowing the 5 amp fuse.
That's my theory, operator error.

Is this normal for a fuel pump to die out with this low of hours? Starting to get nervous about my 1880 with all the issues folks are having with the BX line of tractors. I only have 250 hours on mine.
Nothing to worry about as long as you can buy a fuel pump on Aliexpress for under 10 quid inclusive shipping.

I have 1600+ hours on my 2018 BX23S, unknown how many with the pump unplugged. 3rd set of tires though.

I do not think you can kill this pump by blocking it, unlike a rotary pump.

There is a coil which is switched electronically on and off and a plunger inside with a valve, another valve at one end. I have not measured it but I cannot see why the current would be significantly higher with the plunger blocked mechanically.
