Cheaper than Cheap Lightweight Box Blade

Came across the link to this 55" box blade with rippers for $249 before tax and free shipping. I figured it was worth that even if I throw the metal in my scrap pile. 55" just covers the track width on both of the tractors I have now.

I let my daughter and SIL have my heavy 6 footer with the 4310 when they took it. If this doesn't look like it will bend like a pretzel I may add a 300 pound barbell set on top of it.

No idea on quality, but check the shipping as it could be $$$ - you might find a sale at TSC or used is a better overall deal and more durable

I don’t recommend that implement. It says cat 0 and cat 1. Anything that is light enough for cat 0 is going to be flimsy.

Whether or not it's worth the cost will depend on what you use it for. Six scarifiers on a 55" inch box blade ... that's probably a clue right there. Land Pride shows the BB12 series as being matched to the LX and the equivalent is the BB1254 at 325 lb, CAT 1 and four scarifiers. Personally I'd rather put the money towards a quality implement that will last a lifetime.

What is the weight of the box blade? I don't see it in the link.

Not necessarily. I've got a Brinly Cat0 10" single furrow plow, decades old , and it performs GREAT behind a 9HP garden tractor.

If designed right, you don't need a box blade to be 100s of pounds heavy. Put quality steel in the correct spots, it'll do the job just fine.

Where and how the implement is used has a HUGE bearing on how long it'll last.

Here's the same Generic brand on the Jungle. 55" Box Blade
Ecotric, PeakPursuit, Yitamotor, Kaufu, Impact Implements, etc. all look the same. Probably all manufactured by the same Chinese company.

14" x 14" x 55" 101 lbs. made for garden tractors cat 0 with cat 1 adaptors. Not sure what an LX would do to it, but give it a try. Maybe weld on some strategically placed reinforcements.

Obviously, I don’t have a LX3310. It has side plates so flimsy they have sheet metal stiff back braces that look like they’d be more appropriate for office furniture and it’s Cat 0 / Cat 1. Thinking about how it would do behind the Ford 9N I spent many, many hours on before my L, I’m thinking it would work fine until the first big root, massive boulder, or some other near to immovable object strike. First hard hit, I’d expect something to bend, break, or rip.

Looks to me like a waste of money. If you buy it, I hope I’m wrong and it works well for you for many years.

Common sense: If it’s SO CHEAP as to raise questions….. Then the answer is likely the obvious.

BUT…if all you need to spread-out and around some loose dirt and smooth-over an existing dirt or gravel road…. it’ll prob‘ly do the light-duty job.

Whenever I buy an implement, I look for the heaviest one I can find, = more metal, looks flimsy and they did not post how much it weighs.
