I have a neighbor across the road and back a lane with a flock that size. They come over once or twice a day and patrol the lawn for a few minutes. They are welcome since they don't stay long enough to wear out their welcome.

What do they taste like? (Closer to chicken, pheasant or turkey or other?)

Do they use a coop or is it an Easter egg hunt daily?

Don't know, we have them for tick control. I'll let you know if I try one

We had a flock that defected from the neighbors house to ours when I was a kid. They would roost in a tree near the house and squawk all night long. I got so angry that I would shoot at them in the darkness with my BB gun to no avail. P.S. they didn't make a dent in the tick population, contrary to popular belief.

Our first mistake was putting them in the coop 50' in front of the house. One jumped on our (metal) roof @ 3am the other night. Dogs barking, woke us all up. I took 3 shots and realized I need a flashlight holder for my pellet gun. I did notice much less ticks on my dogs last year but I also burned a lot of the immediate area. Just got done doing that today too.

Man I love those things.

Our neighbors ususally have about 10-12 of them at any one point.

They are always “patrolling” our yard, and “yes” they are loud, but I kinda enjoy listening to them “gaggle around”.

They kind of drowned out the "voices in my head”……..🤫

I will say this though, one of the “predators” (Fox, coyotes….etc 🤷‍♂️ ) tend to "pick them off" on a pretty regular basis, so they must not be the “toughest” birds around.

I've got wild turkies that love to come and eat crabapples off the tree in front of my house. They were cute at first. Then came the red crabapple diarrhoea stains all over my walkay...

I had a friend, may he rest in peace, that had a flock of them, and they were always out in the fields around the sheep. Drew raised heritage breeds for wool, and sometimes even herd the sheep around, I think it was m ore of looking for things to eat than herding my self. That was all well and good, funny in fact, but they were dumber than a box of rocks, he lost everyone of them on the road. They would start to pick in the gravel, for grit Im guessing, along the road and splat, never did figure out how to get out of the way of cars, soon he had no more.

My wife said it seems they take turns making noise. I asked if I shoot the first one if the second one will think differently before squawking away like an idiot.

ProblemS solved. I moved them 550' closer to my favorite neighbors. And I suddenly love the wonderful music they make.

They’re noisy. Almost as loud as peacocks. (Distant) Neighbor had them years ago.

I would occasionally plow their driveway.

Sometimes the snowplowing job got “fowled” up…..😳

Guinea fowl are delicious, especially with a sauce with lots of cream and brandy...

They are found all over Africa, and easy to catch. During all my years in (West, Central and East) Africa, we didn't even have to hunt them: they committed vehicular suicide. They flock on jungle roads and take off when a vehicle arrives, thinking they will just fly over it, but they don't see the HF and UHF antennas on the car... Some days we "harvested" a dozen or more this way.
