If the switches voltage/current goes through the box (I don't think it does on my G2160, then yeah it would likely be lower current. But IIRC on my 2160 all the current to run the solenoid goes though those useless little switches. Simply adding a helper relay still allows them to work but gives the solenoid a solid current to fire the starter motor

Ok, I do not know how ot is implemented on the G2160. My post was aimed at the G1800.

And yes, I thought "useless" as well when those switches prevented my G1900 from starting but I am sure you too may reconsider if one of those switches stops your tractor when you fall off and does not drive into your neighbours garden where a toddler is playing.

I repaired all my safety switches, I think they make sense. With my modified combination box and the blink code in the pre glow lamp I can see what is wrong and by turning the key three times I can still start the tractor to drive it back into the work shop.

I didn't disable them I'm simply using the relay to carry the current the solenoid requires. Your idea reminds me of a funny story from years ago. My friend (then next door neighbor) was on his lawn tractor he had at the time. I happened to look out my slider (back then his and my daughters were quite young) Anyway he's riding his little lawn tractor along and wanted to mow under the swing set. Figuring he could just push the swings up and outta the way. Well didn't go as planned. One of the swings got caught around his neck, he could not stop the machine, it kept going forward. And he ended up with the swing pulling him fully backward and the tractor flipping backward over on top of him. He wasn't hurt and all I could do was laugh my a$$ off watching the whole thing in slow motion

The wiring on a G2160 is completely different than the wiring for a G1900, not a little different, but day and night different.
Both models do have a combination box, but the G2160 has switches wired in parallel, in series/parallel, and directly to the box.
The G1900 is a very simple wiring circuit to the combination box/Logic module.

I have seen an extra relais in front of the starter a few times, mine had that too, but I think it is only covering up a problem with the relais in the combination box which will fail later. The extra relais should be put in long before the problems start, but who would do that?

One guy here (do not remember the thread or who it was) cut a hole in the plastic of the box to get at the relais pins for desoldering and replacing the faulty part. I think this is a simple, cheap and effective repair.

What is the meaning of Relais?

Relais:meaning

Relais in the French language, also means a hotel located in the countryside. In fact, in ancient times, Relais was the post office where we stopped to rest in the middle of a long journey and relassier is a verb that still means relaxing, refreshing.

You french???
I could have sworn you were Irish.
And if you are Irish 🍀
I had no clue the Irish spelling for relays, is Relais. 😧

You do know this is just a ribbing right. 😉🤣🤣🤣🍀

G2160 wiring = 🍩

G1900 wiring = 🍄

Pretty hard to compare a doughnut to a mushroom!

Ouch. Relay is the correct spelling, of course. This is as bad as "Kabota" :ROFLMAO:

p.s.: "Relais" is the German spelling for "Relay". See https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Relais
