Hello,

I was talking to a seller of a G1900S and he claimed that the frames of this type tractor always break (like on the one he was trying to sell).

Can anybody that had been working on a lot of those tractors confirm / deny such claim? The only weak point I can see is the fairly large cutout for the rear wheel steering bar.

Background for my question is that I want to remove (slight) corrosion on my frame and before respraying I am considering strengthening the frame if required.

Doesn't yours have like 6000 hard hours on it? If it was gonna break I'd think it would have by now

Very good point (y)

That's one of the reasons I am asking here, I find it hard to believe what the seller was telling me.

I have been mowing with a G1800 or a G1800S for about a dozen years (two different machines). Two similar yards, two different machines. Current machine is rear-steer (-S), the other was not. Rear steer machine now has 1200 hours on it. Don't recall how many hours were on the first machine. The -S lad led a rough life in the 1000 hrs before I got it - maintenance had been spotty to non-existent.

I'll check the -S the next time I'm underneath it. I need to take the deck off ASAP for service, so I'll give the frame a good inspection.

Before mowing season starts, I intend to put ~50 lbs of beet juice in each rear tire.

Stay tuned.

-Paul
