Removing the cylinders is such a quick job. Easier than loading and trailering the tractor.
Yeah, agree…if I was only doing One…but for all 4….(good measure on 30-yr old tractor I figured)

I believe it’s correct in that the cylinders Leak might be stopped using generic O-rings.
I think that’s what a lot of independent guys likely do, and maybe that’s OK.
. I’d do the entire replace-the-O-rings-myself.
O-rings? Where the hell did that come from? :) The deed's been done but if you have time to wander into a hydraulic services shop next time you are near one, ask to be shown around and shown piston and rod seals.

Perhaps…but … What about when I retrieve them, bring ‘em home and re-install…and they LEAK?

I’ll have to do that All Over Again.

(I have the trailer and the truck to pull it and it’s only about 20 miles) ;)

@ JohnDB : The term “O-rings” is a generic description. One of the issues regarding this repair is…. I want the OEM seals to be used…. not the “generic” ones the local hyd shop says “are made the same but don’t have the “Kabota” label on the bag.” (That is a quote from his text when I told him I was going to take it to the dealer.)

Also…. I’ve bought after-market parts back when they were good parts…. but these days… ya never know what ya really get….. so this way I’ll get…instead of ”Kabota”… I’ll get Kubota.

Regardless of source whatever goes back in those 30 year old cylinders will not be the same as what comes out. They will be new seals made by some seal OEM not Kubota and will be as good as and quite possibly better than the originals ever were.

Kubota did not make the cylinders. They bought them from some cylinder OEM.

The cylinder OEM did not make the seals. They ordered them out of some seal OEMs catalog.

And thats exactly what Kubota or a third party is doing today.
