I am replacing the Bevel Gear Housing due to wear. The replacement housing (used) and even new do not come with the bearings and gears. I stopped at the local Kubota dealer and drew puzzled looks. A puller will not go in because the gear is directly behind the bearing....... Then, there is another bearing supporting the mating bevel gear.

My first attempt will be to drop the entire unit into the freezer over night (hope it doesn't get mistaken for a ham bone) then quickly attempt grabbing the edge of the bearing. This is an interesting assembly to say the least.

in the pictures, the pictures show the unit with the bearing... and replacement without the bearing.

Any experience out there in removing these parts?????

You can put a puller through the gear and pull it all out.
It's not press fitted in, none of the bearings are on these.
I've just used a slide to get it out in the past.

Just take two 4x4 blocks of wood and lay the housing down on top of them with the bearing between the two blocks. Tap on the housing with a hammer and most likely it will come right out. As Wolfman said they are not pressed in.
