Blowing snow this morning after a decent amount came down, 3" to 4" in less than a couple of hours. Heavy, wet snow again for Boxing Day but just rain and mist yesterday.

My guess is shaft was rusted/stuck, so shear pin didn't come into play ...
Mohawk valley a bit north of you got about 5ish last night…as far as my tractors and ATV, I am missing them dearly wearing out the in-laws shovel…tractor less is no way to go thru life.

B3200 w/loader, Woods RC5 brush hog, 4' box blade, tooth bar, B1700 MMM,
Dropped a dying red oak and cut it up. Used the B3200 to haul them back to the woodshed. Perfect day. No wind and 37. Used my new Farm Boss saw and made short work of it

Finally starting to get rid of a few things three and a half years after my father passed away. We had four lawnmowers: a 1960 something Pennsylvania Panzer, my 15 year old Cub ZTR, my father’s little Craftsman rider, and the Kubota T2290. The T is the only one we’ve used since we bought it.
I’d held on to the ZTR mostly because it’s the mower our son grew up using and he liked it very much but had no use for it due to having no yard. Couple months ago, asked him if he cared if I sold it and he said no, so I sold it to the son of a friend for a couple hundred dollars, mostly because he and his wife are both police officers starting out with a new house and new kid so figured it was going to someone who could put it to use and they could probably also use a break on the price.
Over Christmas, son surprised us with news he moved out of his one bedroom apartment into a five bedroom house with his girlfriend, her kid, one dog, and two cats. So of course he asked if I’d sold the ZTR now that he has a yard. Told him I had, but if he wanted a mower, his Grandpa’s might run.
So today had a “will it run” project. It hadn’t run in at least 4 years, maybe longer. All I remembered about it’s last movement was taking it from the basement of Dad’s house to the shed right after he passed. Tried cranking it, but the battery was dead, wouldn’t take a charge, and I didn’t feel like messing with it further at the time so drug it to the shed where it’s gathered dust since.
Moving it to my house to work on it is a good bit further so I installed an eye bolt on the mower’s hitch, strapped the steering wheel straight, and towed with the rear wheels in the air. I know the hydrostatic transmission can be bypassed to allow pushing it around a shop but not sure if it’s a good idea to flat tow one a quarter mile.
Oil filter was dated 1/19, oil and air filter both look new so may have been closer to six years since it’s seen use. That, and I know Dad would have changed oil and filter annually regardless of use unless it wasn’t used at all. Installed the battery borrowed from the T2290 and it cranked perfectly. Good sign but didn’t fire.
Figured a carb tear down and clean was in order, but first make sure it’s getting gas to the carb. Sure enough, as a wise man once said, “Ain’t got no gas in it.” Fuel tank clean, but dry as dust. Added gas, let the electric fuel pump run a few seconds, and it fired right up like it was just run yesterday.
Drove it out to one of the meadows that was bush hogged a couple months ago and mowed a little. Other than the seat being torn up, all fuel hoses cracking, and a thorough annual maintenance needed, couldn’t find a thing wrong with it.

Well yesterday I removed the fuel tank, drained it and started cleaning the interior since it is rusting. Today I cleaned the tank more and used a rust removal acid and paint prep.
That all went well and the tank is now ready to be painted (lined) tomorrow.

Rusted fuel tank repair
A few weeks ago I had trouble with my L185 acting like it was running out of fuel. Added fuel tried to start= no go! Took off fuel line into filter and no fuel came out of line. Blew air into line and it cleared blockage so I got it running. A couple weeks go by and same deal. I take tank...

Back blade and a snow plow I converted to a snow pusher. The pusher works a lot better then a snow plow.

Much colder and drier snow today = blowing and pushing powder, which is way more enjoyable. Even the lower gravel driveway is frozen so not pushing gravel today.
How long can you push the snow? Distance wise. I want a snow pusher instead of my plow but I am worried that the 300 foot driveway will be impossible for the tractor to push snow once it piles up.
If you have room to push it aside when it gets full, should work. I got rid of mine. i find a back blade works well on my long driveway. Picked up a 3 point blower that works great. The build up along the side stays until spring so try to push it out further.
FEL off Snowblower on and cleared out some snow plies while awaiting 2ft + forecast for later in the week.

Our wives could be related! I bet she names hers too--after hatching 34 out of 42 eggs in April we finally have our rooster count to a manageable number. Ours are Ted, Dennis, Big Bird, and the OG Alfred (aka "Dick" by my wife, he's the only ahole in the bunch.) Unfortunately I can't access our duplex chicken runs with the tractor so it's 5 gal buckets to the orange bucket to haul cleanout to the burn pile, but hydraulics make for a much better wheelbarrow.
Replaced leaking fuel return line and degreased engine so could tell if any more leaks from connections to tank (so far so good), now to finish carrying remaining bags of sackrete up the hill to the new dog run.
Although all I did with tractor for the dog run was punch holes with the auger and use it as a glorified wheelbarrow, it was a lot easier to carry 13 treated 4x4s, 40 treated 2x4s, and 20 bags of sackrete 100 yards uphill from the trailer.

A little bit of recreational tillage for Fall 2025. You can't go wrong with moldboard plowing.

I use the pusher to clean up after the back blade and to pile the snow. I have found that once it builds up the pusher starts to ride up over some of the snow, by then the pusher is full and rolling in front out the sides.
