I bought a used Land Pride SB1574 in September of 2021 for $3,500. It was in very good shape when I bought it despite being used commercially, and with hydraulic chute rotation and deflector I figured it was a good/fair deal since an equivalent new one at that time was over $6k. I actually handed over $2,300 in cash and a Dan Wesson V-Bob pistol that I rarely used, and given how much I've used the blower and will use it over the coming years I have absolutely zero regrets.
When I bought it I had to address an issue with the coupler/shear bolt interface between the output shaft of the gearbox and the gear that drives the chain. It wasn't hard to fix and I've yet to shear a pin in either location after close to five winters of regular use. I also added a hose support, some washers (spacers) to the deflector cylinder attachment points, and repaired some damaged sheet metal near the entrance to the center impeller, and straightened out one of the pieces of c-channel in the same location. Simple things that offered incremental improvements.
One thing I haven't done is change the gearbox oil. I'm usually good about maintenance, and I regularly apply oil to the chain and squeeze grease into the zerk fittings, but the gearbox has gone untouched. I'll drain and flush it in the spring and add new oil, but given where it's located, I'm not expecting to find that the oil is contaminated with water.
