A blast from the past for those old enough to remember

skeets, I can remember watching that video on a few Christmas holidays in the mid and late '50s. And my babysitter during that timeframe was the nicest young lady (also a switchboard operator for Bell Systems) that looked eerily just like one of those gals in the video. Those were the days: Party lines, listening in on other's conversations, being yelled at to "Get OFF the Phone!!", waiting for long periods of time for the phone lines to clear so you could "ring" a friend, calling home "Collect" to let your parents know you arrived at your friends house and then your parents would refuse the call to avoid the charges.

Im glad it brought back a few good memories, I always knew Christmas was really close when it hit the local TV station KDKA

Hahah….I totally remember doing that!!!!!!

Or my Grandma would say “ring me when you get home” and my mom would call her when we got home and hang up after the 1st ring………. That was our “secret signal” that we got home safe. "

All to avoid the dreaded……Long distance charge….
