First let me say, Howdy Y'all from East Texas

My first post here, I do not own a Kubota but think I might soon.

I have about 30 acres mostly field and a small lumber business. I have never owned a "New" tractor.

Newest one I have ever owned was from 1964.

So I have been pricing tractors and doing tons of research. I keep coming back to the M 7060.

For the price it seems to have everything I want. Loader, cab, 4x4, brand new for $60k.

Locally it is only available in a 12 speed. Would like to hear opinions on 12 VS 8 speed.

Also does anyone have any thing bad to say about this particular model.

Thank You and God bless.

The M7060 is a well-proven tractor, and there's no downside to the F12/R12 over the F8/R8 models, and lots of upsides. I've had my M6060 for almost four years now and it's a very capable tractor. I bought it off the lot at a great price, and it's enough for me and my needs, but had I ordered a tractor it would have been the model you're looking at.

I would also say that the M6060/M7060 models don't feel dated even though the M4 is supposed to be the next generation. They're very comfortable, very spacious tractors with plenty of power for many tasks.

What options are you thinking of adding to the tractor?

The M7060 is a popular, well-proven model.

I highly recommend the 12 speed vis a vis the 8 speed as the 6 synchronized speed main transmission reduces the need to stop to change ranges vis a vis the 8 speed, and does not cost too much more. Of course, the value of this to you depends upon how you plan to use your tractor.

Prior to relocating, I had a ROPS model M9960 (always bought ROPS models due to need to routinely drive beneath tree canopy) and told dealer that the 12 speed was a requirement rather than a request. I used my M9960 mostly to pull a heavy 15' Woods BW over both wide open flat and very steep, irregular ground where I would have needed to stop to change ranges frequently with the 8 speed but almost never did so with the 12 speed.

FWIW, the power-shifting 24 speed (6x2+PS) transmission is available on cab models but not on ROPS models. I would have gladly paid the (significant) increased cost for the power shifting 24 speed transmission but could not accommodate a cab model for my purposes. Indeed, after delivery of my 6x2 M9960 ROPS model, I included this recommendation as feedback when completing my satisfaction survey.

I got my 7060 the end of 2018. Ordered it pretty well loaded. The only things I would change if doing it again is I would get the radial tires and would get the self leveling loader as it seems I use the forks about 90% of the time now that the livestock is gone. Wish the cab had a little more side to side knee room so when I'm looking back my knee wasn't hard against fender cover/console. The 12 speed gets you a little more hydraulic flow and the E-PTO which I use most of the time.

As far as adding things, I would get it with cast wheel centers and a couple weight sets. That is about all I could think to add.

The 540E PTO is standard for the F12/R12 but I added it to my tractor as an option. Not a great option when running the RC3712 which is a heavy beast, and that's on flat ground let alone hilly terrain, but certainly useful when running the RCR1884 or even the Del Morino flail.

If you can get a M7060 cab model for $60k, jump on it.

Eight years ago when I was tractor shopping a Kubota dealer worked me up a quote for a M7060 with the 12 speed, cab model with loader....$71k!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luckily, about that time I found a used one (2016 model) with only 179 hours on it and bought it. Mine is the cab model with loader; I have over 800 hours on it now and it has been trouble free. I too would urge you to get the 12 speed with EPTO. EPTO gets you 540 PTO rpm at only 1800 rpm and that saves fuel over running the engine at 2300 rpm which is what you have to do to get 540 PTO rpm without EPTO. And at least a couple sets of remotes.

@Texgasser, the F12/R12 has the following features that aren't available on the F8/R8 models.

Over drive (H6 limits engine rpm to 1,960)
Hydraulic wet disc brakes
Transmission parking lock
Limited slip differential on front axle (might be an option for F8/R8)
Button for 4WD
16.2 gpm hydraulic flow

I added the following options to my M6060

320/85R20 R1W Farm Pro front tires and wheels
Third rear remote (FD) - came with two, one SC and one FD
Third function
Creep range
540E PTO
Rear defrost (bigger alternator)
Rear wiper
Air ride seat
Front weight bracket
Wheel weights
Rim Guard ballast in rear tires

Since we're posting pictures! 😂 I find the constant RPM management feature to be invaluable. When it's selected, the ECU will change fuel delivery to maintain constant RPM as the load on the tractor changes. It sure makes working in hilly terrain about as easy as can be.

I find it's all the other features that come with the F12/R12 that appeal to me more than having more gear ratios. I simply don't need more and find that I work in L2, L3 or L4 without any trouble at all. The ground is usually the limiting factor for me i.e. it's too rough to go much more than 4 mph or so.

Yeah, that does seem to be one heck of a deal. MSRP for an M7060HDC12 with loader is $65,800 and that's without a bucket!!

Almost four years ago I paid $52k out the door for the M6060 with a loader, bucket and two rear remotes but no other options. By the time I was done adding all the options that I wanted as well as some Reimer Tuning goodness and Summit Hydraulics/Scorpion upgrades I'd put around $65k into this tractor. But what the heck, I have a great tractor with around 82 hp that does everything I could want and I'll have it for years to come.

This one already has the wide front tires and quick disconnect bucket. Price is also with cast centers.

If I want the 3rd function can be put on a year or two down the road right? Already has 540E pto and wide front tires.

What is creep range?

Creep is another gear range. I added it to my M6040, so now I have High, Low, and Creep ranges. Independent on the main transmission gears. IMO these should come standard, makes hooking up implements, operating in tight spots better instead of trying to slip the clutch.

It states creep range is not for pulling heavy loads and such but I have used it to load onto my trailer.

More info for above the M6060 comes with an open front differential and the M7060 and above come with a limited slip regardless of 8 or 12 speed transmission. No option for the 12 speed on a M6060.

I did add a Torq locker to mine and it makes a huge improvement traction wise in uneven terrain.

Edited correct locker name.

I use creep range to back the RC3712 and M6060 onto the gooseneck trailer. It's so much more controlled. Yep, backing up to implements is nice in creep range too.

Thanks for the info re the front limited slip. I'll look into a Torx locker at some point, but will probably do lockers on my trucks before the tractor.

Yes, you can add it at any time. If you do add it and want the factory setup, be sure to order through sales and not parts. When I added rear defrost and rear wiper (which comes with an upgraded alternator and three pieces of glass), the price was a little over $1k through sales. Had I ordered through parts it would have been four or fives times that much.

I added EPTO to my 2016 M9960 6X2 ROPS model as it was not standard equipment at that time.

At the time I had a heavy Woods 7' rotary cutter that I had been using with my MF 2635. I used the 7' cutter for a couple of years with my M9960 before buying the 15' BW. The EPTO was handy with the 7' cutter but I no longer used it after I bought the BW. Starting the BW in EPTO was not feasible as there was no way to feather the electric over hydraulic PTO clutch and engaging the PTO would stall the engine unless excessive throttle was applied and this shocked the drive line so much as to constiture abuse.

I use the e-pto on my 12' batwing most of the time, and on the 7' snowblower all of the time. On the snowblower I run e-pto as fast as the tractor allows, which is 639 rpm so I have increased the through put of the blower plus the reduced engine rpm slows my ground speed, so win win.
