That hose may very well last another 10 years, whereas a 'new' hose can fail in 10 days-especially the cheap ones being suggested here.
Well said Kenny. I have seen hoses like that on farm implements last years. It’s the OP’s choice as to how much risk they are willing to take. There’s a lot of Arm Chair experts on here who love to spend everybody else’s money.

Could be the other way round too. ;)

My experience with cheap hoses, but specified to the required pressure, is very good. Most important is prevention of chafe and possibly protection from sunlight.

The thread starter is well advised of at least buying a spare. With the braided layer chafed through, as clearly visible in his picture, this hose will not take anything near its rated pressure any more.

Is the pressure in the hose at or near the rated pressure of the hose? This is just more conjecture since you don't know the working pressure in the hose via the 3rd function (there are two cylinders in a push/pull arrangement just like my snow blade), you also don't know the extent to which the braided layer is compromised, you also don't know the factor of safety of the hose and so on. The only way to know that the hose isn't up to the task is to have it fail. The only way to know for sure that this particular hose won't fail is to replace it.

Just as @Kennyd4110 said, that hose could last another 10 years, but it could also fail tomorrow. The OP has options and there isn't just one proper course of action despite all the opinions in this thread.

^^^^^

It's 30 bucks at most. IF the O/P is that destitue I'll buy it for him or we can start a 'Go fund me' thing.

He asked the question (Patch it or replace) got plenty of answers.

Not sure how you'd 'patch' messed up braided wire. 'Hide it' yes, patch it no.
