Will the FDR1672 hold up to an L4701, or should I go with the FDR2584?

I’m looking at purchasing a Land Pride finish mower and trying to decide between the FDR1672 and the FDR2584.
I’ll be running it behind a Kubota L4701, and I’m concerned about whether the FDR1672 bearings and spindle components will hold up long term with that kind of power.
I like the 72” cut of the FDR1672 and the price is better, but I’ve seen a few people mention gauge wheel yokes and spindle bearings being a weak point if the mower is paired with too large a tractor.
Does anyone have experience running an FDR1672 behind a tractor in this HP range?
Or would I be better off stepping up to the FDR2584, even though it’s wider than I really need?
I mow pasture-like lawn and fields, relatively smooth but not golf-course smooth. Appreciate any insight!

Why not go with an FDR 2572?

It has the 72 inch cut which you prefer, and has the upgraded components of the 25 series.

i dont like buying cheaper made products just to save a few dollars because it will end up costing more than you save later in repair cost

The 1672 is a damn tough mower. Atleast it has been for me for over 5 years now. First year it barely even cut normal grass. More bush hogging and land clearing that anything else. Always held in there. Never been on that kind of horsepower though.

The 2572 may be better fit for you if you're not wanting to jump up to the 84".

Why would HP matter when cutting grass? I could see concern if you're bush hogging saplings and scalping dirt. Having a few more horses than needed doesn't mean that they will be applied.

I've owned a couple Land Pride decks and wouldn't be afraid of any of them. If you have a considerable amount of mowing why not go wider?

I do plan on the 72” but the dealer did mention that the hp of the tractor could put wear on the bearings on the 1625 and I should go with the 2572. He also said to consult with the experts on this form.

The gauge wheel yoke and blade spindle assembly appear to have the same part numbers for both decks mentioned. I guess when installed on a wider deck they are more robust;)

Sounds like some creative "up selling" to me. You are buying a premium brand product. You should expect it to be "fit for purpose" in ordinary use and not have to buy the heavy duty version so parts won't wear out prematurely

I decided to go with the 2584. They had a pretty good deal on it so I went with it. Thanks again for the advice

I've used a FDR2584 for four years now and have cut hundreds of acres. I've had two issues. Brand new the tensioner wasn't working properly and ate the belt in the first few minutes of use. The second issue happened last week when I had one broken and one missing bolt for the right side clevis bracket. Replaced them and back to work. I have 0 complaints with the mower.
