So, the tractor runs great. I think I’ve have had it three years. I think it is close to 1000 hours on it.
I believe it was well cared for when I bought it
belly mower and rake all summer, back, back blade to plow snow.
Before this gremlin, in high range mowing, run it 1500 rpm push the forward pedal down it goes.
it would mow at a decent cruising speed. No groans, no grinds.

i was moving stuff around with the carry all because spring happens.
Engaged the belly mower. Check! I remember hitting the zerks in the fall.
i put it in high range. And it kind of ran okay, but as pushed the pedal for more speed it acted like I was putting on the brake. The engine runs fine, adding fuel for the load evidenced by black smoke and grunt.

When I bought it I had the local deal replace the hydraulic fluid and filters, maybe 100 hrs ago.

Anything come to mind?
Clogged hydraulic filter and when it exceeds the flow capabilities it hydrolocks the positive displacement pump?
Does anyone think it would damage anything to mow in low range until I figure it out?

Cannot remember if B7500 is 2 range or 3 range.

Do not expect to mow much if 3 range and in H range.

Should be able to mow in high range if 2 range.

Remember pedal is speed control, not accelerator.

May not be your issue, but one of my Kubotae needed an adjustment to the feedback rod. When the 3-point was raised, the rod didn't tell the tractor that the hitch was at the upper limit and the hydraulics were dead heading / bypassing.

Two speed.
Low range works normally, as fas I can tell.
I thought the pedal acted as a valve to control flow from the pump.

going to inspect the High/N/Low linkage to see if it can be impeded.
Then I might change the filter using the vacuum cleaner trick to limit fluid loss..
I think there is no way to avoid dumping the tank to clean the strainer.

Other than that, a trip to the dealer.

Did the mower deck slow down when the tractor slowed down?

You need to check the clutch pedal for adjustment.
If there is not enough you will need to adjust that.

Mowing in high range at 1500 is asking for trouble!
You're lugging it, and working the heck out of the clutch and the engine.
It ideally needs to be run at PTO speed, 2500 RPM
Much less torque and stress on the system.

It's possible that you have worn the clutch down and it will need to be replaced.

As I get old thing slip by me.
I am pretty decent at turning wrenches. I have six cars, a pretty cherry 1999 Dodge Ram Cummins, a 1984 Scarab off shore boat, two Kubota. And original factory shop manuals for everything.
I retired from the fire department with thirty years of service, twenty as an engineer. Back in the day when we worked on the pumps and firefighters rode on the tailboard.

And currently, I love my B2601.
I have put more hours on it in a year than the previous owner did in seven.

I found the problem with the B7500.
I left the parking brake on

Flame away, I deserve it.

I cant believe nobody suggested that, as often as it happens. Sure glad mine has a dash light.

Glad that was an easy fix. But @North Idaho Wolfman is right running in high gear at 1500 rpm while also mowing is putting serious strain on everything and asking for hydrostat problems. Run at pto speed especially when mowing. Thats what they are designed to do

I was expecting immediate catastrophic explosive disassembly of the transmission. Which is why I reached out.
Instead I disengaged the brake lock and mowed half my property.
The planets are back in alignment.

My bad.
I mow at 2000 rpm. By my trained spotters ear that sounds like the sweet spot cruising normal height grass. I do bumped it up for tall thick grass, like when I was cutting trail in high grass here.

One thing I don’t care for is the oil recommendation of 10w30. I would like to use 15w40 like my other diesels, but I am sure ”Mother Kubota” knows best. I just assure it is rated for diesel.
I drive old cars (vintage?) and change all fluids when I get them. I am known to regularly change power steering fluid thinking I won’t be changing a pump later, or listen to a whine.

Change the oil to the 15W40, it's not going to illy effect it at all!
