Hello everyone- any help would be greatly appreciated. My father who is now 81 is having major issues with his b1700 kubota. I’ve read ab the issues in the forums before and he did what was suggested but it’s still not working. In the beginning it woul start/stop, now he has worked on these tractors all his life. He is a machinist & could basically fix anything. So all the basics were done batter, fuses, ect. He changed the fuel injection pump and the tractor started right up And he mowed 2 da straight then it did the same thing…start/stop. We then replaced thr stop solenlid, again it started right up and worked for a few days. Then it just stopped in middle of our driveway. Does anyone have any ideas on where to go next? The labor at the dealership is 125.00 an hour and he’s living on social security so he’s not keen on paying this much as he wor on these machines all his life- machinest by trade. But now his memory is fuzzy & close vision isn't the best. if anyone has any suggestions please let me know . Thanks in advance for your help!

See if plenty of fuel is flowing out of the fuel tank and then out of the filter to the pump. I think the fuel tank is higher than pump so it is gravity fed. Start at the hose at the injection pump and if you get good flow for a couple of minutes there you are good to go. If not, move back before the filter and see what happens. If flow is slow remove the fuel cap and see if that helps the flow. Blow some low pressure air back towards the tank and see what happens (put a rag over the fuel tank fill hole first) and see what happens.

I suspect some sort of blockage in the fuel flow (rust, debris, biological growth in the tank).

Post back what you find and keep checking for other suggestions.

Good luck.

Simple test, remove the shut-off solenoid and plug the opening to keep debris out. Now he can run the tractor to see if it stays running or dies.
If it still dies, it is fuel-related; if it stays running, it is electrical.

Thank you will have him give it a try as soon as I’m up there.

Since many parts have been replaced trying to isolate a cause of the run and then not run, first thing I'd check is the battery ground where where it bolts to the frame. That connection needs to be clean and tight for a complete circuit.

It's a 25 year old machine and that connection is often neglected.

Thank you for your helpful responses. My dad decided to cut of the tip of the orgina shut off solenoid & the tractors lights came on and it started right up & ran until he shut off the fuel manually. So guessing we need to get a new part from Kubota itself vs. eBay.

It still could be a wiring issue / switch issue.
If the solenoid does not get 2 signals to the coils then it will not work.
The 2 signals are:
1: Start signal that pulls the coil in, and only happens when cranking.
2: Run signal that holds the coil in, that is constant whenever the key is on.
