I think the brush guard would look very good painted the color of your new truck.
Ha! Ha! I don't think I'll be painting it red given that there's a lot of red already. Current thoughts are Kubota grey, black of course, or possibly silver. Since I'll be painting it, I can always change it if I don't like it.

Here's a pic of my 2017 F250 SD and the Westin grill guard winch mount combo. It was inexpensive in 2018. You may notice that it retains the factory front bumper. Big $ savings there.

20250315_181011.jpg

My good friend and farmer neighbor used to laugh at this monstrosity until I winched his plow truck out of the ditch a couple winters ago.

Deer on the side of the road still make me slow down but I am not as concerned if they leap out in front of me.

Started watching a TV series called Landman on Paramount and all of the oil company trucks in the show look just like mine. LOL. Except for the color.... they are my truck right down to the grill guards, winches, leveling kit, back rack and 35's or 37's. All the same look as my truck. Makes me laugh. Small personal victory, simply by chance. I just wanted a level stance, a headache rack in back and a winch mount. Oh, and bigger meats. 35's on it now.

Saw some guy taking pictures of my truck at a Home Depot a few years ago and i asked him "What's up"?
He says, "I love the looks, wanna do the same to mine". (Maybe he was from Hollywood, LOL). Then he askes, "How much of a lift is on it"? I told that it has no real lift, just a home cobbled up leveling kit. Carli front 2" springs, Fox shocks, longer brake lines in front and a sway bar extension in front. Oh, and 1" bump stop extensions in the front made from hockey pucks.

I read that the 2017 and some 2018 F250s and F350's are 1 1/2" taller from the factory than later models. I guess too many old men complained that the 4x4 trucks were too high. So Ford made them lower. Win for me because I bought a 2017.

Anyway...

@McMXi , Your new red truck will look great with any colored grill bumper combo except maybe yellow or pink. IMO

Cheers to big bad Pick up trucks.

Very nice! What do you think your trailer weighs when it's loaded up?

Talking of trucks, I just spent the week getting in and out of an Audi A5 S-line (rental for work), and it sucks compared to getting in an out of a truck. As nice as the car was, and I'm an Audi fan, I would never buy one. I get to drive some fairly nice rental vehicles every month, most in the $50k to $70k range but I still prefer to be in a truck, even if it's a 2002 F-250 Super Duty.

My toy Hualer will scale 19000 +- when loaded. We have up front onan 5500 , washer dryer,
That's very close to what I'll be pulling when the M6060 and 12ft folding cutter (RC3712) are sitting on the 30ft gooseneck (6,900lb). That load will be around 20,000lb which is still a ways under the 43,500lb GCWR.

Nice candy apple dually! With the 2024 model, you should be clear of the CDF shift drum malfunction. That is the sole reason I've waited to move on my 2015.

Poohbear That is one nice rig you have. If my health was better I would have a rig like that and be out at the sand dunes when I wasn't farming. Enjoy the new truck.

The DECKED toolbox was ready to be delivered last week but I was out of town so I had it held for pickup. I was able to pick it up this morning and get it installed it in the bed of the F-450. It's typical DECKED quality, but that's no surprise given the experience I've had with the DECKED drawer system over the past six or more years.

If there's one area that could be better it's the bed rail brackets, or at least the parts supplied. I had to modify two of them to fit my application which is fine and to be expected, but I didn't like how the brackets pull the bed rail inwards when tightening the bolts. I stacked up some washers between the bed rail bracket and the steel mounting plate on the underside of the toolbox until I liked the fit, and then measured them to be 9/16" thick. I decided to make spacers out of 1/2" plate to guarantee that the bed rail bracket is fully engaged on the underside of the rail while preventing the bracket from pulling the rail inwards i.e. the bracket with the welded nut remains parallel to the underside of the toolbox (see last photo).

Overall I think the box is excellent. It's functional and looks good in the bed offering security and a place to keep straps, shackles, gooseneck and conventional towing hitches, tools etc. out of the weather. The factory steps either side of the front of the bed make access to the bottom of the box very easy. The two forward factory bed hooks are still accessible, and there's at least 8" of space under the box to allow for 10 sheets of 3/4" plywood or drywall. I'll need to look into a way to prevent the B&W gooseneck kit from sliding around in the bottom of the toolbox. It's in a plastic case so will slide around with ease.

DECKED sells a rail tie down system that mounts to the toolbox on the aluminum strip shown. I don't thing I'll add it though since I have plenty of tie down points.

That is nice setup.

Also, we won the dump trailer in the auction. 12K Bri-Mar dump trailer. It has been well used, but everything works on it.

Post a photo when you get a chance ... if you feel like it of course. :)

I've got lots of totes of various sizes that I use for all kinds of things, and I had a thought that one size might work in the toolbox and help with keeping items separated. This one fits really well, and since the toolbox is waterproof I don't need to use the lid. I can fit two of this size in the box and there might be room for the B&W case on one end, which would prevent the totes from sliding. I like the idea of keeping stuff separated, and having things in totes would make it easier to lift out a bunch of things such as straps and shackles.

I did order another "snack tray" for the other side of the toolbox. The box came with one (light grey tray on left), so for $20 it seems like a good use of otherwise wasted space.

I will. We ran out quickly to look at after I got off work yesterday. Talked with the nephew, he is going to add a solar panel to it to keep the battery charged and we adding a roll-up tarp to it. Going to give the outside a sanding on the rust spots and redo the outer body paint and add back the DOT reflectors.

Don't know if it is worth the effort to put truck bedliner spray in the bed of it? I probably need to start another post, so I don't derail yours and ask for advice on what one would do to the trailer.

Sounds like a sweet trailer, do you mind sharing how much you won the auction for? If/When I get a dump trailer, a roll-up tarp, and a solar panel will be high on the list. I would not bedline the inside of the dump box. Depending on what you're hauling and dumping, it will have a tendency to stick and not slide out. Plus, it's one more coating to chip and harbor moisture under. A smooth steel dump bed is very easy to sweep out, too.

If you start another thread, post the link so I can follow along.

Totes are a great idea, I always used milk crates in my weather guard and TWS boxes. Was going to suggest a rubber mat or scrap carpet in the bottom to help keep things from sliding as easily.

I'm going to stop by Home Depot this morning and pick up two 17 gallon totes that will live in the DECKED toolbox. They're a perfect fit at the top, almost as if by design. I called DECKED yesterday and they have some organization type accessories planned for the toolbox in the future but nothing much currently available. There are features molded into the box that seem to have no purpose other than for future accessories.

Sometimes it just works out. (y) I picked up two 17 gallon totes from Home Depot this afternoon, and wouldn't you know it, the B&W gooseneck kit sits nicely between the totes so nothing will slide left to right. The extra snack tray will be here Friday, and I'm thinking that I might eventually make a panel to sit on top of the totes for additional organized storage since there's at least 4" of space between the top of the totes and the underside of the lid.

The TDK brush guard/bumper has a build week of 5/19 and I have no idea when the trailer will be ready. I asked the CFO at the company I work for if they'll cover the cost of me driving out to Illinois and back rather than flying and renting a car. Current rate is $0.70/mile for personal vehicles, but that would cost the company $2,200 or so. That's a few hundred more than the typical airfare, car rental, gas and parking at the airport on this end. I'm just trying to reduce the cost of a 2,000 mile roadtrip to Nebraska by combining a work trip with picking up the trailer on the way back.

That should be it for a while. I'll update in a couple of months or so.

decked_09.jpg

Added in edit:

The lids actually fit on the totes in the toolbox so that possibly negates the need for a panel. Having the lids in the box adds the ability to remove a tote and keep the contents out of the weather. I bet I could fit a couple of rifles on top of the totes, and in cases too!

I have so much room for storage in the box. I put 4 military ratchet straps, 2 tow straps, 4 shackles, jumper cables and a first aid kit (I have two more to throw in) in one tote and there's still more room for stuff. I'm going to buy some decent fire extinguishers to add to the box, and I have a Craftsman tool set in a plastic case that I usually have with me on road trips so that'll have a place as well.

decked_toolbox_9.jpg

decked_toolbox_10.jpg

Another added in edit: 😂

Yep! I can fit at least two rifles in soft cases and maybe three. I bet I could fit my Accuracy International AWM .338 Lapua Magnum with the AAC Ti suppressor in this box too and that's a long bugger. I don't think that any of my Pelican hard cases will fit but you never know. You can see how much depth is available between the top of the totes and the underside of the lid. Sweet!!

I sent photos to DECKED showing the totes in the toolbox along with a link to the tote on Home Depot's website. They had no idea about this despite receiving storage questions on a regular basis. Now they can make a recommendation.

Certainly looks like a great rig.

Looks like it's been polished up for sale. 45K miles is a little concerning over 24 years.

Some of the Fords (International?) diesels of the era had some turbo issues. I think smaller trucks. You've had similar trucks, so not news to you. My SIL recently bought an F-350 dually of the era.

Lot of guys say you can't beat a Cummins.....

Knew a few guys that went MOPAR in the 90's just for the Cummins in their pickups.....
That '01 Ford 650 has a Cummins in it.
