I have an earlier model from Precision. Does not have the hydraulic rotation ability, and it has a short nose. I put a QT plate on it and use it on my L4240 to clear some trees up to 8-10". I mounted a camera so I could see what I was doing.

I made some metal bars to bolt over the cutting edge so I could clamp and pull small trees by their roots.

Thanks. That’s the information I’m looking for. Looks like the blade design is proven. Used as tree puller speaks to the ruggedness.

It is built heavy. The bars I made to go over the cutting edge was a wild idea so I could pull up small trees and not cut them off and have to spray. I couldn't see what I was doing and how the shear was positioned before I pulled up. I put the camera on to help with that but I eventually just tore the metal off with my craziness.

If I had a need for a lot of shearing I'd sell this one and purchase on like you have posted. But I don't have a skid steer to use it with. It was a project kind of like your hyd. tree saw! Use it then store it.

Forest encroachment management is always an ongoing chore on our mostly wooded hillside farm. Many tools brought to battle the green horde. Myself, friends and neighbors have suffered injuries from trees. One death. Some devices are cartoonish like something Wile E Coyote might order from ACME for his nemesis.

Precision Manufacturing fabrication builds several types of innovative tree shears. Not common in my area and dealer were not much help other than price. Used models are scarce. Some useful videos online from users.

Found a miniclip model not far away still strapped to original shipping pallet from an owner who had purchased new top end tractor and attachments to help establish a new mountain homesite. Overturned tractor and shattered hip changed those plans. Negotiated price less than half new for an unused but weathered clipper.

Assembly via manufacturer video straight forward. One hydraulic line going from diverting valve to blade cylinder was assembled backwards, npt to orfs, required some disassembly to correct. Unique feature is a remote control diverter valve that lets you switch 3rd function from cutting to head rotation. The supplied AMG battery was dead and not chargeable. Used another battery source and found the wireless receiver box also dead. Suspect water damage from outside storage. Called manufacturer for tech support. Technician called back after a couple of hours. My receiver was at least 3 years old and since upgraded to a new style. $550 for the old style, $450 for the new. Battery cheaper locally. Discussed some about using a $20, 30amp, waterproof wireless remote from Amazon and DeWalt batteries. They are available to help.

Ordered two types of wireless remotes with transmitters, Dewalt battery mount and 12v transformer, lighted 20amp switch. This experiment ongoing.

Even though I can’t rotate the head yet, used in horizontal position to cut 40-50 trees off flush with the ground. The extended boom, tractor HST made for easy maneuvering and positioning. Cut everything fitting into jaws which is about 7”. Easy cutting near and under fencing. I have got some rocky ground especially near bases of trees. Blade unfazed. Did grip a few cut trees to pull out for easy grappling later. Manufacturer discourages such use. See attached video of a users 3 year review to evaluate the use and abuse.

Going to be a valuable weapon against our green alien friends for world dominance.

I've been thinking of fabbing up and attachment like that for my BH. I've been toying with a log splitter kind of idea vs the bypass shears to also let me split off log pieces up to 15" diameter.

I personally wouldn't want to drop trees or overhead branches without a FOPS cab. It isn't a matter of if but when

Nice find. How did you happen to fine it? Will that replace your hydraulic saw?
Marketplace. Searched for a while. Bid on a couple auctions without success. Luck.

There is some overlap abilities with the tree saw. The saw can’t cut horizontal but can cut much higher and thicker branches. The miniclip cuts flush with the ground is the big advantage. Rocks or fencing wire don’t seem to bother the blade. Rotating cutter head a plus.

By cutting trees flush with ground and the horizontal cab/face slappers hope to able to reestablish boarder control.

Hydraulicasaurs, Tree eater.

The Amazon waterproof receiver, transmitters and dewalt battery adapter replaced the factory electronics. $45 fix. Have design upgrades for switch and indicator lights. Much prefer the DeWalt 20v battery pack and latching rotational switch. 180 degrees of rotation! Nice for trimming limbs and cutting up longer stems to more manageable size. Sure beats a chainsaw.
Appreciate many of design aspects on this innovative tool. Makes your face sore from grinning.

Completely remade the electronics package to fit the OEM steel box. Added green lighted switch to know when turned on. Red LED indicates when switched via wireless remote to rotation circuit. Drilled the back of the metal box so they face the operator. Drill battery should last for weeks of use. Interesting way to added another hydraulic circuit.

Many of the 6” trees are 25-30’ tall. Miniclip can easily section up to make haul off easier.
