Photo shoot anything lately? Random Photo Thread

There was a little stand-off at the feeder. Our season ended with a nice sunset. I didn’t shoot this year. Anybody have a recipe for tag soup?

There was a nice sunset over my farm last week. The dog was co-operative, so I snapped some pics.

I removed it to make way for a pump house over the well. I think I made the former owner cry. He sad he had never seen the farm without the windmill (& he was born there). I saved what I could, & what was worth saving. It was not in very good shape. The former owner & I agreed, there will be a...

Thank you very much for the “in depth” reply. Your comment about “old water” makes sense. The well had now been used in at least 15 years. I wondered if some of these minerals could build up over time & if pumping the well down, allowing it time to recharge, would decrease those amounts? The...

Here is the water analysis. Tell me what you think. I did get the area cleaned up around the well. I’ll pull the cover (concrete cube with some draft) soon & see if I can get enough light in there for some decent pictures.

I have cut down some pretty big Elm trees. Most of the time, the saw dust is so wet, it will bind up the chainsaw & “sap” performance from the saw. There were a few trees that contained several gallons of brackish water in the core that really made a mess of the chainsaw & my pants. I believe...

My TDS is high at 843. I’m being told to filter that & get it down below 500. A water softener should finish the job. Manganese & sodium are high. The manganese can be handled with a filter, but sodium requires an RO system to remove enough for acceptable levels. The biological critters were...

The Elms are down, mostly. I need to cut the windmill leg & support out of 1 stump.

Fiddle farting around on the farm.

I planted my wildlife plots 2 weeks ago. We have not had any measurable rain since then. The moisture from some of the vegetation I disked in was enough to get some germination. I would really like a good soaker. The last couple rain events in the area were not forecasted, & missed completely...

I have encountered 5-6 since 2001. Not a great amount, but enough to keep you vigilant. I was removing some brush with the Redstick when a Prairie rattler struck at the blade. I didn’t know he was there. He was cut in 2 & half of the snake was pitched into my leg. Luckily, it was not the...

Those saw blades work great. I have 1 on my Shindiawa Redstick & use it frequently. They work very well on rattlesnakes. Ask me how I know.

I bought the place in 2017. I’ve been helping the previous owner on the place since 2001. I wanted to cut the trees down, but previous owner liked the shade to park vehicles under when out there. I grew accustomed to parking in the shade as well. As you can see, the building will provide the...

The Elm trees are against the concrete cap on the well. They have the base of the windmill jacked up. I’m thinking cutting the down to ground level. I will not dig them out. The rock lining is still round on the inside of this well. You can see where the pump jack was attached.

I hope you are right about the re-sprouting 🤞. I have many chemicals that will kill them, but can’t use those chemicals since the roots are in my potential drinking water. I did have to remove 2 huge Elm trees (4’+) the were in the footprint of my building. I cut them down & the stumps were...
