It's basically hard clay with some shale rock. In the winter the clay digs pretty easy, its the shale rock that concerns me.

I will be digging out stumps got some big and some small, digging trenches for coverts, modifying a dirt bike track but all that dirt has already been cut. Also, building a pond, but most of the hard cutting has already been done with an excavator, so mostly moving / placing rocks there...

I'm in the market for a 2501 with a backhoe. I'm totally at the limit of my budget and would like to not spend more for the extra HP. I have some hard clay dirt with areas of shale rock around my place and was wondering if the 2501 can dig hard dirt with a 12" bucket. Not looking for it to dig...
