    OIL FILTER LOCATION ACCESSIBILITY

Wow! One of these days, I'm going to try and calculate the amount of loom on a tractor engine :)

    OIL FILTER LOCATION ACCESSIBILITY

Good point! Moving this tractor to the dealer would be an effort plus I have another reason for doing it myself. I’ll know it is done properly.

    OIL FILTER LOCATION ACCESSIBILITY

Yes sir. It can. I see that is what most do. And I actually sympathize with the engineers. They have to put all this stuff somewhere! This picture also reminds me that I need to pull my pressure washer out! :)

    OIL FILTER LOCATION ACCESSIBILITY

Ready for my first M5-111 oil change and a little disappointed at the difficulty of removing and replacing the filter! I would think something that has to be accessed so frequently could have unencumbered access. Oh well....... Big Mike

Full Synthetic Oil without CJ-4 Rating Okay?

Wow! Thank you all for your detailed responses. This is a great forum. I’m going to get the Rotella T6 full synthetic 15W-40 and a Kubota filter. I’m comfortable now that it’s a suitable choice. Thanks again! Big Mike

Full Synthetic Oil without CJ-4 Rating Okay?

    I’m sorry. It’s the Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic 15W-40. https://rotella.shell.com/en_us/products/full-synthetic-oil/shell-rotella-t6-15w-40-full-synthetic-motor-oil.html

Full Synthetic Oil without CJ-4 Rating Okay?

My manual says use oil with CJ-4 rating. This will be my first oil change. Shell makes a great 15w-40 full synthetic oil but it says something like " Improved wear performance versus API CJ-4 technology" indicating that it does not have the CJ-4 rating. Would it still be okay in your opinion...

    Bushhog in Reverse

I was laughing to myself this weekend while using my rotary cutter On my M5-111. I swear I think I use it in reverse more than I use it in forward. 😅 Anyone else do the same? Backing into rough spots. Big Mike

    Spreader for Cab Tractor?

Sorry. I’m thinking about a 3 Pt hitch seed and fertilizer spreader that would hold several hundred pounds and operate from my pto. Big Mike

    Spreader for Cab Tractor?

Now that I have this nice cab tractor, where can I get a spreader that I can operate from the cab? I guess it would have to be electrically operated or something??? Does anyone have a thought? Thanks, Big Mike

    Took the Plunge Today

I had assumed that I would never find exactly what I wanted on the lot, but I did. Bought it at Beshears Tractor in Opelika, Alabama. A great dealer in my opinion. At thay time, it was the only M5-111 on their lot. There isn't a lot of row cropping around here, and the M5 line is typically...

    Took the Plunge Today

Nothing extremely heavy, but I do plan to regularly use a two-shank subsoiler which should be no problem (but probably the hardest pull of anything for me). It will be nice to have more horsepower that I probably really need than less though! I also plan to chase down an offset disk harrow at...

    Took the Plunge Today

I let it go some time back with a bunch of great implements. I knew those implements would not stand up to the higher horsepower of the M5-111. Now I'm starting over collecting implements!

    Took the Plunge Today

It's too wet down here right now to play with the new tractor. Plus I need to get my concrete slab poured and the sides put on my shed. Nevertheless, here is the new iron:
