    ROPS question MX5100

It is possible, but not probable with the welders that I found. The quotes I was getting were the same or more than the replacement parts. For peace of mind, and project turn around time, replacement was a no brainer. Glad I caught it and I hope I never need it.

    ROPS question MX5100

Found a salvage yard willing to sell just the upper vertical portions of the ROPS and ship it out. Problem hopefully solved. Was pursuing getting it welded professionally, but was not comfortable with the responses I was getting from "certified structural welders". I tend to overthink things...

    ROPS question MX5100

Yeah, I looked at that diagram when I bought it and said "oh, factory built, sectioned ROPS....just need some bolts". I didn't take into account that the section is secured by 2 bolts upper and lower, and a bracket. Been calling salvage yards to see if anyone will ship me JUST the two vertical...

    ROPS question MX5100

Yes, there is another joint at the cross brace. No idea why the previous owner decided to cut the ROPS, weld in an alignment piece and drill holes....rather than pull out 4 bolts to disconnect the upper structure. His wife said he had dimensia when I was there, maybe by this point he was...

    ROPS question MX5100

I purchased this MX5100 late last year, about to put it into service and had a question about the ROPS. The tractor has a fold down ROPS, but the unit is split at the fenders. The upper half has a square tube welded inside and a bolt hole that goes through the outside and inside tube to tie...

    MX5100 Rotary Cutter sizing question

Rubber guard in the front, no chains or guard in the rear. I won't be running the BH with anyone else on property, and a very healthy amount of woods between my tractor and the next closest person, so will probably keep the rear guard off for a few seasons. I didn't get to run it before...It...

    MX5100 Rotary Cutter sizing question

I took a trip yesterday and snapped up a BH286. Rated 40HP minimum, 6' cut, and 942lbs I think this is just about the best medium duty cutter I could find for my MX5100. It gives me a little extra HP to play with, just under the max lift capacity, and a brand that is easy to find parts for. I...

    MX5100 Rotary Cutter sizing question

@SDT that was exactly the info I was looking for. I guess I will stick to medium duty bush hogs instead of heavy duty. I have no doubt my Kubota would have handled an identical bush hog better than the Mahindra, but I would like a bit more margin for error / fighting physics! Will let...

    MX5100 Rotary Cutter sizing question

@utterchaos as stated, max weight listed in the manual is 1000lbs. That is why I am asking if people have any experience running this model with an.oversized bush hog (1200lbs on a machine rated for 1000lbs) and a bush hog rated for 45hp min. on a tractor putting out 44hp. While I know 1hp...

    MX5100 Rotary Cutter sizing question

I hate rental equipment....50/50 odds that it works correctly from the jump, and then 50/50 it breaks while using it. This property is remote enough (from a rental company AND from my home), I would rather a breakdown be my problem, so I can go buy parts at TSC, fix the issue, and not worry...

    MX5100 Rotary Cutter sizing question

I am sticking to a 6', my only concern is given most of what I am looking at is TECHNICALLY oversized (10%), am I going to be beating up my 3pt, PTO, engine, etc, etc. ? Previously I ran a chain as a top link (on the Mahindra). Before I switched to a chain, the 3pt took a REAL beating while...

    MX5100 Rotary Cutter sizing question

I have an MX5100 (4wd, gear drive, FEL, fluid filled rear tires), and I am gearing up to use it to bush hog property in Southern VA. Most of what I will be cutting is property that was timbered about 15 years ago. No stumps or major rock croppings, BUT it is not smooth pasture, it has slopes...
