Positive on battery to positive post on solenoid (integral to starter) using car jumper cables. All this really did was bypass the +ve cable on tractor from battery to +ve post on solenoid /starter. So would this indicate a bad -ve ground somewhere?

Tx Jim - yes I've tried starting with freshly charged battery and with a good charger attached with a 50A start assist setting. The battery still discharges quickly - the charger won't replenish the energy fast enough.

Update Ok, I did find some mice nests ... even inside the left side black box with potted electronics (!) However after some pretty careful inspection, I could not find any evidence of chewed wires. So, some questions -can a dealer do a diagnostic check on the regulator black box to...

Thanks very much for the leads everyone. I do have mice in the shed (they nested in my portable generator ... man did that stink. I had to tear it apart and remove all the .. stink). I know the previous Kubota owner replaced the solenoid with an aftermarket one I believe. I'll work on it...

Kubota PNs are: TG2742 for the blower, G2592 for the PTO Kit. Also interested in finding a tiller (G4100 / G2591 rear PTO kit) and the elusive Cat 0 3 pt hitch made for these. Located in kalamazoo MI thanks.
