It's been sorta quite around OTT recently

Too freaking hot and dry to do anything in Arkansas, mine’s been topped off, lubed, and just sitting there. Glad I finished bush hogging the farm 3 weeks ago, one spark from a blade against a rock and all of Madison county would be on fire.

    Camp build

Any issues or tips to share on putting up knotty pine planks? One of these days going to do the same in the attic/loft in my hunting cabin. Have the knee walls built, painstakingly tried to be true and vertical—figured that would make putting pine planks up a lot easier.

    Implement Suggestions for clearing (BX23s)

That’s impressive—guy I use in NWA is 175/hr, 4 hour minimum. He’s a local firefighter and it’s his side gig, plus he did very efficient work for the 4 hours he did for me a few years ago so worth every bit of that. Agree with everything said above—save your machine and hire someone with their...

What did you do to or on your Kubota today?

Between yesterday afternoon and today mowed the two clearings and all trails/firebreaks/easement on my 65 acres, 8 hours seat time. Pretty good pace I think for 28 hp and a 5’ bush hog considering it was 5’ tall in a lot of places. I mow the clearings tall except for right by the cabin though...

    Hunting and game posts

And always a nice way to start my day, to see our healthy neighborhood twins saying good morning on the driveway as I leave for work today: I think Steve Rinella talking about being a true outdoorsman and hunter says it best in “Outdoor Kids in an Inside World”: “While we do kill individual...

    Hunting and game posts

I always love these close ups—nothing jaw dropping but a healthy typical NW Arkansas basket rack buck:

    Hot enough? Smoky enough?

BINGO The bobwhite quail—which thrives in a fire dependent ecosystem—says hello. Very few left here in Arkansas because “fire is bad.”

    What's cookin' boys?

Know this is older post but—gotta have both: Edit: it’s a crime to cook a steak over gas…

    Hunting and game posts

This interesting fella showed himself today—I think it’s the 6 pt from last year. Short rack front to back but impressive G2s. By the belly looks like a 4 1/2 yo around here. I jumped him mowing trails a few weeks ago about 30 yards away and my quick impression was dang that’s a tall rack in...

Nice work with a BB—only way to learn to use it is to use it. Looks really good.

    OK…..I will be “That guy”…...

Holy shit dude I just hurt myself, thank you for my gut hurting from laughing 🤣 And yeah, as I have said before, our wives are DEFINITELY kindred spirits at the very least… Edit: you’re not the only guy RWS—been there, cussed, done that—there’s a reason all my PTO stuff has a button now…😆🙄

    Thoughts on Propane Weed Torch

I burn this regularly—it’s due for a little maintenance but I need some propane—take doggos out here everyday to pee and chickens make their rounds through here daily so I don’t worry about chemicals using a torch.
