You 'could' do your plan, but you will have to bungee the joystick so you get constant flow to the splitters valve.
Add a PB (power beyond) loop at the rear would be better for feeding the splitter, and not all that much more expensive over your original plan.
It's still 'pinned on' in my eyes. Yes you hang the main body on the SSQA, but then you still have to install the rod and the two turnbuckle links to make it work.
3rd functions are so readily available now, and at reasonable prices (in my view anyway) there is just no need for these. Seems...
Two Hydraulic quick connects would be easy to add to that setup if you can figure the threads out, it would be a worthwhile addition.

Spring clamps provide constant tension, unlike worm clamps. They are better is some cases, but not all.
The foam indicates that air is being sucked in somewhere, have you checked around the filter seal?
