Thanks. Worked out the odd combination and tractor is back in service. Engine only has 17,000 hours so may last a while.

I have two tractors that each died a different death. The M5666 engine ran away and blew, the M5040 lost a transmission. So I decided to combine them and since the newer one was shuttle shift I machined the flywheel from the M5040 to match. Got them bolted together yesterday and it runs and...

Found grounded wire for lights on back of tractor. Caused fuse to blow and works fine after cleaning up the mess of connections left by someone else..thanks guys.

I am working on an M 5040 and there are no light on the dash and no readings on the gauges. Checked all fuses I can find. Anyone else had this?
