Update for anybody that has the same issue, turned out to be injector pump. I had it rebuilt and no issues since I got it back. The summer will tell though, I haven't worked it yet.

I put 2 new fuel pumps on it. when I did I pulled wires out in open an inspected and they were fine. Sound advice thanks.

Good thinking, I will check the lines first, but I believe the latter is going to be what I need to do, I just needed to hear it from somebody else.

no, I took two clean clear jelly jars, I drained the diesel out of the injection pump into one and bought fresh diesel and poured some in the other and compared in the sunlight, perfect match.

Well, I turned two goats loose in the yard to cut my grass while I figure this thing out. At least the wife's happy I got them out of the house. Just a bump to keep it up front.

Cliff notes: Can a injector pump go out one leg at a time? What could cause it to heat up?
