I am replacing blades on my deck and I have a question. In the past, on other mowers i replaced blades that had a hole that would more or less lock into the mandrel. As i am installing the new ones they are spinning. I am assuming i just need to tighten up and they will stay tight. I was wondering should i use a torque wrench? and if so what do i set it at? Thanks for any advice you can share

Don't know what mower that is but suspect a belly mower? In years gone by removing/replacing blades on various multi-blade decks I'd block one blade with a piece of wood while working on another.

Then impact wrenches came along and there's no need to hold anything.

For a RC60-71B mower deck on page 17 of the manual. 72 to 87 Ft. Lbs.
I imagine it's similar of other deck models in the series.

gonna have to go to Harbor Freight and get an impact wrench. Its a zero turn Z421 60" Would you happen to know the size of the socket i need for the bolt? One video said 1 13/16" I thought it was metric maybe a 30mm not sure yet. They always seem to be out of single large impact sockets...guess ill have to look at the online harbor store thx for info

I don't know the size of the blade bolt on your mower, but on my MMM deck, the blade bolt can use either the 30mm or a 1 3/16. If I need a large socket that I don't have, I go to Northern Tool. I'll use the impact to take them off, but I don't use it to put them back on. I just give it a couple good grunts with a 1/2" ratchet and don't worry about torquing them.

It is metric - M12 x 1.25
Not sure about the socket size but it should have a 14mm Allen Head recess in the bolt head. They are standard on 116 models of mower decks.

My impact socket set has the right socket size for my RCK54-23BX, can't recall off the top of my head. I can look tomorrow. Put one in your pocket and go shopping.

I think this is why i cant get the blade to not slip. Need new cup washers Thank you for the illustration. My washers appear to have flattened out. So off to the kubota dealer to see if they have them thanks again!

I slip a piece of pipe about 12 inches long over the blade I’m torquing to stop rotation. I use 85 ft.lbs for my blades, check your manual to confirm your blade torque

update 6/5
the cup washers i received are bigger then original. and they look slightly thicker. I can not get the glades to tighten . Seems they are as tight as can be but blades still spin. I am guessing that means the original cup washers are just too flat. So since its saturday i need to improvise so i am going to try and use the bigger washers. The hole size is larger but i am hoping that it is ok and might tighten down with the new washers as long as the thickness does not cause the spline nut/washer to not align properly. Hope I am making sense, so now i will try again and repost results. Maybe some other old guy like me can use the great info that people offer on here good day to all!

OK I used one of the new cup washers and one of the old ones that combo seemed to provide the notched washer to get a grip. I put the first one on and it worked fine no slipping When i went for the next one, the pulley bolt comes off. How do you hold the pulley still to undo the blade bolt.? I must be missing something, i see notches in the pulley wheel however if i manage to hold the pulley still the bolt still spins. I am really at a loss of what to do
thanks you for any advice

Are you talking about the middle pully on the Bevel Gear Case?
The blade bolt screws into the shaft. If you hold the pulley is the shaft able to spin? It shouldn't.
If there's a feather key make sure it's in place and not rounded.
