What parts diagram can you locate that block in? I guess it is in some implement (FEL) parts list. But I have not ever bothered to look under the tractor parts list so am curious where they appear.
The tech at messicks told me that my valve is currently set up as an open valve and that is what Kubota requires for their system with PBY And that is should be able to pull the plug out of the PBY hose port and connect the hose back to the transmission. So it appears that the PBY will function with no modification to the valve.

The PBY plug is what does the modification to the valve to turn it from Closed center / Open center / Power beyond.

@TheOldHokie

Are the parts diagrams for a HUSCO valve (is that what Kubota uses?)?
Messicks is a Woods distributor and has the Woods parts diagrams for thst loader. The diagrams mention Husco but they dont explicitly identify the valve. The OPs diagram matchs the Messicks diagram. I will leave it to you to connect the dots.

I believe that the tech is confused by the diagrams.

Look at the highlighted text on this diagram (Posted earlier by @TheOldHokie).
IMG_0648.jpeg

My understanding is that plug 14 is installed for a tractor that has an open center system (Kubota does) AND does not need Power Beyond.

Then part 13 is for any closed center system (which is not most Kubota tractors) and any system (open center or closed center systems) that needs a power beyond port.

I suggest that you contact Wood’s, Husco or Messick's to get a clarification on what part #13 is used for.

I believe that @North Idaho Wolfman and @TheOldHokie are saying the same thing but in a more succinct manner. Hopefully they will correct this if it is incorrect.

Thank you for pointing out the text. I had missed that. It helps expkain things a little bit better. Based on that I believe:
  1. Yhe valve comes setup for open center without high pressure carryover by default. In that configuration the power beyond port is just another tank port and is plugged. It cannot be used for a third connection to the tractor.
  2. Plug 13 is a closed center conversion plug and when it is installed the PB port is also plugged and not used. The tank port DIES NOT return neutral fkow to the tractor. It is onlly used for return oil frim cylinders or a motor. Thatscstandard closed center operation.
  3. Plug 14 is a high pressure carry over conversion (PB) plug and when it is installed the plug in power beyond (10) is replaced by a hose fitting (8) which is used for the high pressure carryover (PB) connection to the tractor. It returnsbpump pressure when the calve is in neutral.
Which leads us to the question of what is in the side port now. If the power beyond port is plugged the PB conversion plug cannot be present. If it were the neutral circuit would be blocked andv the valve would instantly dead head an open center hydraulic system. We need a picture of that port.

This is the last line typed above by @TheOldHokie
”If it were the neutral circuit would be nlockec andv tug he valve would instantly dead head an open center hydraulic system. We need a picture of that port.”

The colored text seems to have been jumbled and I believe the sentence should read as:
”If it were the neutral circuit would be blocked and the valve would instantly dead head an open center hydraulic system. We need a picture of that port.” (Or at least it makes sense now)

I am sure he loves auto correct about now!
It was manually corrected befire you hit the "post" button. I hate auto correct and cell phone keyboards :devilish:

After further thought about the text description let me revise that

Plug 13 is used for open center operation without high pressure carry over. When its installed the neutral and tank cores are connected internally and both flows are directed to the tank port. The PB port is just an additional tank port.

Plug 14 is used for BOTH high pressure carry over and closed center operation. It isolates the tank and neutral cores.

For closed center operation the power beyond port is plugged (10) blocking neutral flow and the tank port is used to return exhaust oil to tank.

For high pressure carry over operation plug 10 is replaced with a hose fitting (8) and allows neutral flow to carry over to a down stream valve. The tank port only carries exhaust oil to tank.

So the Messicks guy was close but no banana. Remove the plug in the side port and post a picture of it. It should be obvious which you have.

That’s what I said to the tech. My valv has 14 in place now and I ordered part #13. My valve is set up for open but not for power beyond is what I believe. I need to find where the other end of the power beyond hose will attach to the tractor. I’m still unclear on that.

The plug I have is an internal Allen some I assume it’s just a flat plug. I ordered part 13 and the elbow hose fitting #8. Honestly I wasn’t impressed with Messicks guys but in their defense, they said they weren’t specialists and that their good hydraulic tech was unavailable. I’ve learned mo from this forum thread than what they said.

The power beyond hose goes to the hydraulic outlet block.

The tank hose goes to sump and on that tractor I think there is a factory supplied return port on the side of the transmission. Probably BSPP thread so you will need the correct hose adapter.

I am too confused now to make any comments about any of the plugs or what they do.

So don’t use my advice in post #25 since I really don’t know what is going on.

Part 13 is used when? What does the text in the part 13 description mean?

Part 14 is used when? What does the text in the part 14 description mean?

How is his valve currently set up?

Does he need to do anything and use what part number to get the power beyond?

Part 14 is just a plain SAE-10 (7/8-14) port plug. It is only used when the valve is operated as open center without high pressure carry over.

Part 13 is a special conversion plug. It is used for both open center with high pressure carry over and closed center operation.

When 13 is installed the power beyond port determines closed center vs power beyond operation. When the power beyind port is plugged the valve is closed center. When a hose is connected to the power beyond port the valve operates as open center with high pressure carry over.

I didnt answer this part so here goes.

He believes (based on the appearance of the plug) its setup for open center without power beyond. I am not so confident. Externally plugs 13 and 14 may be indistinguishable. We will find out for sure when he removes the existing plug.

Is post #37 saying the same thing as what you said in post #29?

I may be confused by the open center and closed center use of Plug 13.

But I should just stop asking questions and confusing myself and @Chistech

They are the same with different wording. I suspect your confusion comes from an incomplete understanding of internal valve construction and operation. You are accustomed to the use of a hollow (PB) or solid (closed center) conversion sleeve installed directly in the power beyond port. Hollow for high pressure carry over and solid for ckosed center as shown below.

1000005216.jpg

1000005217.jpg

Husco is doing it differently. It appears they are installing a solid plug in the side of the valve to separate tank and neutrsl passages. Then the power beyond port is plugged for closed center and open for carry over. If you look at the pictures above you can turn the hollow PB sleeve into a solid closed center sleeve by putting a plug in it.
