Reclaimed 6 acres hay field ... 2 hours with 60" 31 HP gas Z-turn - 6 gallons of gas! (Keeps a fresh supply of premium 100% gas!) Suspension seat is AWESOME! 😎

My Z has a tow "hitch" too ... 😁

But can't do 10 mph with the dethatcher behind, as it just bounces along, gotta slow down to about half speed!

Same field, 6 hours with 4' brush hog, 25 HP diesel SCUT, 4 gallon of diesel ...
My Stihl ZT has 4 wheels suspension. It handles rough ground really nicely.

Thanks for the replies everyone. This will be for mowing only, not interested in a zero turn.
Found a bx2670 with deck for $6k. Looks to be in good shape. Just kind of far away.

May just end up with another clapped out gasser. I just feel the BX would last a real, real long time if it is only mowing.

Don’t the G series have transmission problems? I’d really like an F series, I take care of 2 at work, just don’t have the acreage or pocket book!

That’s one of the reasons I upgraded to a ZD331 from a gas model. Is the longevity, fuel efficiency is a big plus too.

Just curious why are you against a zero turn?

I just purchased a second BX machine, strictly for mowing lawn and having better fuel efficiency
than gasoline powered similar sized machines. I'm also tired of shuffling implements around.

From the factory, the 18 horsepower BX models appear to be limited to the 54" deck width.
The 23 & 26 horsepower BX models can swing the 60" deck width.

I searched long and hard for a 23 horsepower BX that didn't have a loader.
I recently acquired a BX 2370 with 361 hours on the clock, and it never had a loader mounted.
It is equipped with the 60" mid mounted deck and the three point hitch.
I will be removing the three point hitch and storing it in the barn.
About the only extra things I will be doing to the BX 2370 is add some LED headlights and a grill guard.

For loader/backhoe/bush hogging, I use my BX 25 TLB.

To be honest, I haven't used a mid mount mower on a BX machine yet for a single blade of grass.
Check in with me this coming fall and I will have a mowing season of first hand experience.

I did have a Kubota dealer salesman tell me it was a financial mistake to purchase a "NEW" Kubota BX
tractor without a FEL and the owner would take a big hit upon resale.

In my case, I'm the second owner and didn't take that $$$ hit.

Most people do a Zero turn mower, but I'm a tractor guy.

You can see my JD X 720 that I traded in on the new incoming BX 2370.
The JD is a really nice lawn /garden tractor. Zero complaints other than guzzling gasoline.
The BX 2370 is several hundred pounds heavier than the JD X720.

Look here, bottom of the page.

Wait you had trouble finding one with out a FEL??? Krist son, you should have bought it and sold the FEL and that in it self would have paid for half your purchase

Who here uses their BX for only mowing
What models to look for/ stay away from?
I know the second fuel filter is a pain to change, but that can be fixed.
Are the forward/reverse pedals the same 2 pad design or is there a treadle option?
Deck options?

Toying with the idea to retire my 1990’s cub cadet 46” mower. Has had an engine swap and is starting to smoke, badly. Transmission is weak too. Thinking diesel since I’m already setup with a bulk tank. This would only be used for mowing and pulling the splitter/yard cart around. No loader or rear implements.
Curious...., how much GRASS do you have to cut ?

I’m on 2ac, which is mostly woods. Probably .75-1ac of actual grass. Mow the neighbors yard which is about 1-1.5ac. And occasionally help mow the families 20ac of sporadic grass patches in wooded areas. So not a ton.

That BX2670 is unreasonably cheap, something about it doesn't add up.

Yes, a BX is what you should buy. You could definitely consider buying one with a loader and selling the loader as someone suggests upthread - I bet you'd end up ahead.

That’s a gamble I really don’t want to take. I’m looking for a BX as cheaply as possible. It’s easy to type it out when it’s not your dollar on the line. This isn’t directed at you or anyone particular. Just stating.

No real reason. Just like the tractor model.
And this is what matters. I hope you find a BX without a loader for a price that works for you. I'll keep my eyes open in case something pops up in my neck of the woods.

Completely irrelevant, but there's a really nice L3800 with only 42 hours on it for sale near me for $24k. I know the seller having bought a welding table and hydraulic disc harrow from him over the past 6 years or so. He's really into Kubota and has/had a nice collection including L60s and more. He's an older retired farmer type and looks after his equipment. If I were in need of an open station I'd be all over this one.

I bought a B1700 with a MMM. Added a suspension seat. No other attachments than the mower and a 3 pt in the back. Does good, priced right and can do more if needed

I agree the FB add looks like a scam to me ...
Finally heard back about that listing, with excuse after excuse of why she can’t send a picture of the meter… I’ll be passing on that scam.

Messick's (in Pennsylvania) has multiple clean/used Kubota BX machines without loaders in stock.
Of course, you would have to add cash for transport going to Georgia.
Or take a road trip!

When I bought my BX2380 in 2019 I was dead set on a BX1880 just to mow with. I needed a strong 4WD mower. I had another tractor with bucket and everything I needed, so I thought……. I didn’t need all that with the 1880. I ended up with the 2380 with front bucket w/quick connect and front remotes. It is so versatile, I use it for everything and it complements my larger tractor very well. A couple months ago I added a land pride 60 inch hydraulic snow blade. Right now it’s setting with the snow blade on the front and a 60 inch three point rake on the rear. It’s surprising what you can do with the rake with snow on a gravel road. My larger tractor has a 72 inch hydraulic snow blade on the front. They are awaiting the snowstorm that’s supposed to hit tomorrow and finish up Thursday with about 6 inches on the ground. It ended up being a very good decision for me to go with the full set up….

Disclaimer: my experience may be lacking, but my opinion is not.

My ex-inlaws bought a slightly used bx1500 in 2005 to just mow grass. They had 26 acres of mostly mountain terrain but an acre around the house mostly flat. For the mowing part it did ok. For everything else it was awful. The hills with an dew on them it would spin in place. Any rear attachment became a boat anchor. The plastic was cheap. My simplicity legacy did better but used more fuel, was not. 4 wheel drive, and the Kohler was only a thousand hour engine.

The BX, in my opinion, is a garden tractor. So the old advice should still work, less then 3 acre, lite garden work and snow removal. For bigger work in each area go bigger. I went with a larger B. Yes it's older, but I tried to minimize the amount of plastic and computer controls.

In the end I find it perfect for my application.

Are you related to Hagrid by chance? :ROFLMAO:

My experience differs from your opinion. I do use my BX 2200 mainly for mowing, but for other things as well. I have the larger B2910 but often work the two tractors as a pair.

For example a few years ago I used my BX to pull my 5 x 8 dump trailer, carrying about a ton of earth (may be a little bit more). Somewhere between 250 and 300 yd.³ of dirt I estimate.

Sometimes 50 yards distance and sometimes 100 yards maybe. I had four banks that I was changing the slope on, so that I could grow grass and mow them. I dug the dirt down back, with the backhoe on my B2910, and loaded it into the dump trailer to be pulled up a bit of a slope by the BX, to the different locations where needed. Took me most of a summer but "I got ’er done."

I kept the mower deck on because I needed all the weight I could get for traction up slope.

Following is a photo showing the set up. In the background you can see the average slope I had to come up.

Try this with a "normal" garden tractor and report back! ;):ROFLMAO:

I tried something like that with my BX2360 on my hill. About 2500 pound log on my 600 pound arch. Made it halfway up, had to use 4wd and all of a sudden started going uncontrollably backwards with the wheels spinning forward. Luckily a tree stopped me as everything was turning sideways. Takes weight to pull weight on a hill.
