Reminds me of the 'driveshaft' in my old forklift ! Though I bet that one still has ALL it's needle bearings in it AND a LOT easier to work on !
curious , what is 'Big Blue' ??

Wonder what the need was for that?

Perhaps to eliminate alignment concerns between two units connected together?

My curiosity joins with GVJay's...

guards ??? hahahaha... I wouldn't want to be anywhere in the room if that it broke !!!!

At least the ujoints are 'synced' ! It'd NOT be 'fun' to tell the boss,oopsy. has to be taken all apart.....

Looks like a hoist drum for a mine shift. You can see one of the brake shoes in the back ground.

I don't care what you call it, with only 7" of ground clearance, it was going to be a royal pain in the but to get the allen key grub screws out and then pray to the great god of forklifts that the 'driveshaft' WOULD come out. I still have the u-joint crosses here, forklift is gone, dodged that job...
