We were supposed to get some rain last night from the front, but it appears it stalled out in West Texas. Guessing the hurricane out in gulf is mixing things up, cause the weather guys have been throwing darts on where this storm is going to end up.


There are a lot of areas in the U.S. that is not getting the average yearly rainfall that's for sure. I'm in an area that's much drier climate than Northern VA. The evaporation rate here can be 2.5 times the amount of rainfall rate. The last 4 years its been 9 inches of rain less per year/average. The ecological impact is very significant here.

In 2022, Jan 1st to Aug. 22 we only got 6.35in of rain here, it was almost a desert here. There was no grass, just a few stem type weeds.

Our boys are currently in college, the youngest is a Sea Aggie studying to become a marine biologist. Our oldest boy is at the main campus of Texas A&M studying Anthopology, he plans on being Forensic Anthropologist (PHD). Did you know there are less than 100 board certified forensic anthropologists in the U.S.?!?

Anyways, we picked up our Sea Aggie in Galveston and went to visit our other Aggie in College Station yesterday.

We've had light rain since early today (Monday) morning. 1.2" in the gauge this afternoon.

October was the 3rd driest on record in the past 130 years. Long term forecast looks like a potential increase in rain chances in 2 weeks.

Yesterday, I could see a fire off in the distance, ~ 15 miles away. By the end of day I didn't see any more smoke from that area. Fire activity has been increasing with the dispatch calls. The risk and/or fire outbreak in the area worries me because how dry we are here and how much fuel is on the ground in the brush county.

This morning we had some really light rains come through. I should have a measurable amount in the gauge today. Forecast looks favorable to receive about a half inch to an inch of rain over next couple days. With temperatures dropping, doubtful that any of the grasses will show any growth.

Just a trace of moisture today.

Redoing the prior owners BS electrical job to the shop. Removed the panel and mounted it inside the shop. I have no idea what he did with the cover, I'll try find another one, otherwise not too worried about it. Previous he had one romex wire with 2 outlets and the one 8/3ga cable for a welder. I'm waiting on some supplies and 8ft LED lights. Looking forward to having actual lighting and proper plugs in the shop.

Oh so happy here, it's a very light rain to periods of misting, the ground is soaking up every bit of it. The cows were due for hay yesterday, but you never open a bale before the rain. They will get a nice dry bale in the morning.

No lie, today has been the longest rain event all year. Over 4 hours of moisture, maybe 5 plus, don't know till it moves off. I hoping to get atleast an one inch out of this.
